Agree.

I have been using Kirkland for my still-running-great-just-a-bit-noisy 2002 Honda Odyssey. I also used it for my 2002 Honda Civic, now driven by my brother-in-law.

Default Change my own oil on a lease

I'm leasing for the second time in my life. Can I change my own oil? Will Lexus financial allow this?

Yes, keep the receipts. This is a warrantee issue not a LFS issue.
All LFS cares about is you keep full coverage insurance in force...on their car.

Hi there, I am a Lexus Master Tech and I am working on a series of maintenance and repair videos that will cover the latest generation RX350.
Here is my video on how to replace the engine oil and filter.
Please hit me up with any ideas/suggestions on what other stuff you would like to see in the future in the video comments.
Thanks!

Has anyone replaced the plastic oil filter housing cap with the Aluminum version? I can find the correct part for the pre 2008 RX but nothing for a 2020 RX350.

Thanks for the link. This is the one that I am finding also, but the Lexus parts site (and even this product in the Q/A) says that it does not fit our generation RX350.

If you have used it without difficulty then I will give it a try. Did you order the small metal drain that goes with it too (P/N 15643-31050)? Does not seem to include that part.

Thanks again!

Just a follow up to last post....I think that the part kicks as not fitting b/c they no longer use that part with RX....all are now plastic.

I just did oil change (dealer did the first one) and the filter cap housing was waaaaay too tight....they cranked it on. That was my concern with the plastic housing. I have the right removal tool and went very slowly to get it off without breaking. Put it back on with the correct Torque settings. I realize now that you do not need to order the smaller metal drain plug since the drain plug on the plastic housing is already metal and can just be moved over.

Overall a simple job since everything is easy to reach....could almost do without lifting the vehicle but much easier when lifted.

Default oil change intervals

I just had my 5000 mile service. I was surprised that the oil is not changed at this interval. Anyone have thoughts about the 10000 mile oil change interval recommended by Lexus. I know intervals for synthetic are longer, just seems like a lot of mileage.

I change the oil on my '21 RX and '16 Avalon at one year intervals because I'm retired and don't drive very much. The oil color looks like new even after one year. So, I think a 10K synthetic oil/filter change is ok, per the manual.

Go back to the first post, and start reading this thread, and you should find about 100 thoughts -- LOL.

Thanks. If anyone can get away with 10000 miles it's me. My commute is all highway, never any traffic, one traffic light the entire 47 miles and I'm very easy on a car.

If that was my driving pattern, I would change oil and filter once per year on a mild summer day.

Seems like doing it yourself isn't worth the time or effort. Here in mooseland 1qt of 0w20 costs 14 dollars (Castro edge) x 6 qts (5.8 needed) = 84 bucks already before taxes. Plus the oil filter, miscellaneous items, etc, its well over 100 dollars to do your own oil change. Dealer is only charging 59 dollars (toyota dealer) or 110 dollars at the lexus dealer.

Seems like a no brainer to take it in.
