I read this thread about a week ago and tried it. My wife noticed that the ride seems smoother and asked what changed.

I do notice that you don't have to pay as much attention to the accelerator position, and there's plenty of power for how I drive this vehicle. For the bulk of my driving, eco is just fine. Glad I read this post, cause I wouldn't have thought to try this.

Eco mode rocks. Why do they have the "normal" mode, should rename it to "Abnormal" mode. We should have only two modes - Eco and Sport, and it should have a way to default to a mode if we want ...

I just purchased mine about two weeks ago. I also thought eco mode was the smoothest.
Lexus really needs to come up with different software mapping for the transmission.
I really hope they do something cause I am really regretting my purchase.

I also noticed if I am in eco mode and shut the car off it will remain in eco mode.
That doesnt seem to hold true for Sport mode, normal?

Don't regret your purchase after two weeks. The tranny shifting is very strange but you can get used to it. It takes a little while but you can make it very smooth. The eco mode is the easiest way to get a smooth ride, but you will get used to normal mode. I think they could have done a better job with the tranny, but this 8 speed is not the only manufacturer having issues.

I drive in eco now as per someone's suggestion. Yes it does stay in eco mode and or normal, and no it doesn't stay in sport or sport+

Hang in there...

In addition to the lugging and drone at low RPM Im getting a slight vibration which I find just as annoying.
Anyone else get a slight vibration at low RPM's. Its not terrible but as soon as the RPM's go up its super smooth.
If it were that smooth all the time I would love this vehicle.
