First Service Appointment - Checklist? Any Tips?

Radio88, synthetic oil change at the 10K mile/12 month interval has been standard on the RX since February 2010. There's been no catastrophic consequences since Lexus made the change. And a few members had their oil tested. You can look through this thread from the 3RX forum. It might change your thinking. The first two services are free including one oil change. You could probably get the dealer to do it at 5K instead of 10K. But it's really not necessary.

Glad to hear that. I never hit the mileage either but stick with the time recommendation. At 7,500 miles, you'll be around 12 month mark so it works out. Perfect compromise.

I'm definitely doing this at my 5K:
27. Open Windows and Moon Roof with Electronic Key When pressing the unlock button on the electronic key for 3 seconds:
and also having them check check my remote start functionality.

I handed the sheet to my dealer before I pick up my car. Most things can be change on the navigation screen, but I made sure to specifically asked for those features that only the dealer can adjust. The following is what I changed.
23. Turning the key one time will unlock all doors=Off
25. Close Windows and Moonroof with Mechanical Key=On
26. Open Windows and Moonroof with Mechanical Key=On
28. Tilt with Mechanical Key
29. Tilt with Electronic Key
35. Lane Change Flashes=OFF (I usually do 4 to indicate, 4 during move, 8 total)
47. Automatic Folding Mirror Linked to Operation of Engine Switch (saves wear on electric folding mechanism)
Those are my picks.

Googled and found this:

I'm planning to get adjusted:
- turn off the automatic folding mirrors when you lock/unlock- I'm thinking the motors fold min. 6 times a day for me. It looks cool, but I don't want to know how much it would cost to replace those motors in a few years. Besides, you can control them from inside anyways.
- turning off the steering wheel adjusting when you start/stop the car- again same thinking as above and it's annoying.

LPS information is also found in the FAQ thread on top of the 4RX forum. For those dealer programmable only features, have them take care of it at the 5K service. After that, purchase the Carista app to make the changes yourself. Then you don't have to worry about forgetting to change a particular setting or if you change your mind. There's a few thread discussing it around here.

Will they change my oil at the 5000 mile if I ask them to? I have always changed my oil between 1-2000 miles to get out anything left from the sand casting of the motor. I them change again at 5000 and every 5000 after that. I know I am paying to much, but it is for peace of mind.
