I don't remember ever putting in a credit card number when I bought the car....

How can they renew your subscription automatically if they have no form of payment?

I am in the middle of a fight with them now! They auto renew and if you don't pay they send you a bill at the going rate until you call and cancel . When I called, they wouldn't let me cancel! Kept trying to sign me up at $5/ month. I finally hung up just to get a bill in the mail at full price ?

they can't.

I always call call them before the subscription is over and have them mail me a bill. I then direct Wells Fargo to,send them a check. The fine print allows them to auto pay year after year if the get your credit card or even checking account number on a check so this stops that from happening.

This is company is sneaky and you got to not give them opportunity.

S-XM Renewal Suggestions:
1) Never renew for one year, or longer.
2) Call the day before expiration and state you are cancelling. They will transfer you to a retention specialist.
3) Renew for five months @ $30 - "Promotion" rate.
4) Request a paper bill and pay by check.
5) Never give this company a credit card, or auto check.

I renewed but called XM to negotiate a much better deal. I also use Pandora and Slacker Radio. To add to my music listening pleasures, I've added a much of MP3s on a USB stick as well. Don't find myself listening to normal radio as much now. :-)

Because of his bad experience, I will not extend XM in my 4rx. My trial expires in 3 days. I will ultimately inform them of the above reason if they badger me one more time to extend. They hit me up in US mail and email like 6 times. Very annoying. And very telling too.

They've been pulling this stuff for years. The above quote was what I posted in post #11 of this thread. What is happening to you is why I wouldn't touch 'em after the trial period.

Sorry but I like my Sat radio too much. I never pay the full amount. About half the cost is all I will go for a year.

I get that, but often those who want to back out have a hard time with XM letting them. Their sat service is nice though.

I never give them a chance as I never use a Credit card with them and have WellFargo send them a check. I will pay the few bucks to have them bill me.

If you want to cancel, it looks like you can just go online and change the credit card on your account that's used to auto-renew to something invalid but I've never tried that.
no need to try, it will not work. When you insert a new credit card number it checks to see if it is valid and if not it sticks with the original date. NEVER give these people you credit card number.

The Mark Levinson system has me appreciating my MP3's again. I even bought an iPod Touch just for the car.
And I prefer Pandora and Spotify over XM. I'm not renewing. Now I wish I could get rid of that fin antenna.

I find Sirius/XM to be much like the cable companies. You pay for more channels than you will listen to.

Although it is not obvious on the web site, they kind of hide it. You can opt for a 50 or so channel music only type subscription for about $6 per month. This is what I do for all three of my cars.

It is month to month with no contract. A good option if you just want the main music channels.

Isn't the antenna for Safety Connect (SOS) also inside the fin?
