I guess I was not the only one. I had the same problem when one fell off on the rear driver side. I was a little bit annoyed at the time since it was only the 3rd day of owning the car. I was able to attach it back and has not been a problem since.

Both of mine fell off also closing the moon roof. Lexus ordered new ones and said its a common issue. Advisor said they used a adhesive with the new ones they installed; and it shouldn't be a issue anymore.

The pano roof shade thing has happened to me today. I have only opened then roof maybe 2-3 time total and my car has 8000 miles garaged since day one. I have rubber pieces fall down from the sky and I think it was smashing the shade as it retracted. This is really poor quality for a modern car thats over $60K.

My question is how do you put these rubber pieces back on and is there some DIY instructions as this seems to be a command issue.

Why not let your dealer worry about it?

My 2016 had this issue, go to your dealer, i believe this is a known issue, I just waited till my next service and told them about it and parts was ordered for replacement.

Yeah brought the RX to the dealer for them to look at. My question is after reading some of the post that the rubber pieces will fall off again and wanted to see if folks has did a DIY repair so they can avoid the dealership and all that time wasted. There should be a service bulletin if these are known issues? Seems like a defective design and it's a matter of time for all all RX owners.

I would think the replacement parts are updated in design, but i cannot confirm. but I didn't have a issue with it after even in summer heat.

overall I just stopped using the roof because it got stuck and would not close for me on the first month of ownership.

Assume you did get it closed! I didn't want a sunroof on my 2017 RX but all the cars we liked had it, so didn't have a choice. When we took delivery, the salesman showed us how to open and close it. That's the last time it was open. Since we keep the shade closed, we've pretty much forgotten it's even up there!

I used to work for a Euro company and we assembled panoramic sunroofs. Mainly we supplied to the upscale Euro SUV's. Majority of components come from China - Asia, low cost Euro countries and Mexico. Needless to say, we purchase these parts at the lowest price that we can due to the volume buy.

The Sunroof is warranted for the same amount of time as the car is (48 months). Anything that fails, whether it is part failure or performance, OEM (car maker) is obligated to repair at no cost and if you purchased a premium brand, you will get a rental car free.

I highly doubt that there are many service techs trained on debugging a panoramic sunroof isssue. Maybe because not a lot of people here in the US bother to use the sunroof and therefore the incidence of failure is low. However can you imagine that the up charge for a Panoramic sunroof is n the order of $4,000 plus? Do you know how much we sell the whole Pano Sunroof to the OEM? Average $230.00.

That's what I did when my pano tracks dislodged. There's no earthly reason why we should have to resolve these kinds of issues ourselves.

This happened to my 2016 RX350. When I closed the sunroof, 2 pieces of plastic/rubber seal fell off: one for left and one for the right It was not easy to figure out where they were supposed to be attached to. So I checked with another 2020 RX350 with the panoramic sunroof, and found that they are supposed to install on the inside of the glass (roof) - the moving part, not on tracks on the "non-moving" roof part. Hope this helps.

Default Panoramic Sunroof - Garnishes not covered by Warranty

I'm driving my Mom's Lexus RX350 kept in a garage in Southern California, and it has 29, 000 miles since 2016.
Some of the Panoramic sunroof garnishes fell off and a significant amount of water got into the car after two days of rain and sitting outside with sunroof closed.
Lexus says our Platinum warranty doesn't cover $650 to replace all 8 garnishes!

Well, your car is 8 years old. Try a local body shop.

Classic case of extended warranty scam - most do not cover water intrusion.
