Why doesn't RX350 offer a turbo?

Adding more ponies means beefing up the entire drive train not to mention brakes and suspension.
Lexus does make exceptions in their product lines and offer a high performance GS, RC and soon LS series but they are all specialty vehicle with "special pricing".
Like I said before, if they did turbo charge it, they would make the motor smaller.

last scheduled "free" service, dealer automatically reprogrammed ECM. I noticed better throttle response. It doesn't feel as sluggish anymore. I personally don't feel much of a power difference with the 3RX and 4RX.
After a year and change, I am not a fan of the 8 speed. The 3RX 6 speed was better.

I suggest we wait a while for the "Turbo" on the Rx.... The NX has Turbo and that was the first for Lexus brand............................ ,The 2018 LS will have Twin Turbos on a V-6.

I had the NX as a loaner on 3 separate occasion. I have to admit, it felt underwhelming power wise. I'm sure some here might disagree which is fine. I like the NX appearance exterior & interior. That NAV screen is a bit pathetic compared to the giant ipad size of the RX

My wife has a '16 NX and like the previous 3 vehicles I have driven with turbo, you floor it, count to 2, then the turbo kicks in. When you need instant power, it just isn't there.

If you think the NX200t is bad, you should try the RC200t. It has the 8-speed, very laggy throttle, and an engine that feels too small for the heavy car. At least the NX still has the 6-speed. My sister's NX200t feels better than the RC200t.

No worries, the CT200h aka luxury Prius has the title of the slowest Lexus out there. I driven it and it is a total slug

A FWD RX 200t is 4,300 lbs. AWD is 4,500 lbs.

But it at least the CT200h doesn't look like a performance car...the RC200t has the looks that the performance can't match. Idk what Lexus puts in these turbo-4 cars because the GS200t weighs almost 80 lbs more than the GS350, and the RC200t weighs a bit over 20 lbs more than the GS350.

I've go the I4 Turbo here in Japan, and I came from a 2008 2.4L (Japan Spec). It might be the lower speed limits and the narrower roads here, but I feel the HP is plenty. I've accepted the fact that it is also a big bulky crossover SUV, and use my porsche for when I want to go zoom zoom.

I never claimed it was underpowered. I was surprised it didn't have more HP given its a totally redesigned vehicle and compared to its peer. I had the 2014 3RX which was 270HP, about 4200lbs.....compared to 2016 4RX which is 295HP, 4400 lbs....its about the same to me from acceleration standpoint. I'll admit the 8 speed & gearing gives it a different feel when I am accelerating compared to the 6 speed.
The 4RX uses the same highlander platform that the 3rd gen did - think of it as a 3RX with improved rear legroom and an up to date design
It was brought out to bring the RX up to line with the rest of the lineup
Although I have word of a 3.0l single turbo coming out at some point in the next few years and its very likely itll replace the aging 3.5l

There also be gear specific engine tuning that modulates HP/torque depending on the gear.
