The rearview mirror power line is not "always-on." Radar detectors don't need "always-on" power.

You can tap off from other locations, e.g. the power seat. But the fuse box, except for the long wire, I think, is the simplest solution.

Thank you very much for the fast reply! I have not checked the fuse box yet, but is it easy to access? Where is it located?

Also, I guess in the owner's manual or somewhere online there's the info about how to tap into it's power connectors in the fuze box - such as which terminals can be used to power external accessries, right?

I bought this dashcam about 1.5 years ago, and it was fairly easy to install, no exposed wires whatsoever, and looks like a factory option. It is not powered 24/7 like you want, though maybe some extra wiring by you could solve that problem.
