Brake Hold Pedal Smoothness
Hi,
I have a 2017 RX350, and I use the brake hold feature quite often, however, when I release the brake pedal after the hold light comes on, the motion of the pedal release isn't very smooth. It gives a mini "bump" or "sticky" feeling, even though this doesn't affect the vehicle's breake hold operation at all, the feedback on the foot isn't very pleasant, considering the RX should be very refined on these details. (This issue doesn't happen when brake hold is off)
Could anyone comment on this? Is this just me?
Thanks.

You're not the only one, it's very unpleasant hence I rarely use it. Dealer said that is is "normal" operation...righttt.

It will give a sticking feeling, but that's because the brake hold actually applies a fair amount of braking force compared to the average driver at a stop light. It also doesn't actually let go of the brake until you apply enough throttle to move the car so that will obviously be less smooth as compared to applying throttle when there is no brake force applied (which occurs during the brief moment you would manually move your foot from the brake to the gas pedal).

Thanks guys for the replies. I'm mostly referring to the motion of lifting the brake pedal right after the "hold" light comes on as opposed to setting the car back into motion.
What a pity such a refined car has some edges...

When I release the brake pedal on my 2016 RX 450H with brake hold enabled, the motion of the brake pedal is smooth with no sticking. There is no difference in the motion whether brake hold is activated or not. I would have the vehicle checked if it is happening to you.

I haven't noticed any unusual brake feel when using the Hold feature.
Releasing pressure on the brake pedal when the Hold feature is activated feels the same as when the Hold feature is not in use.

I love the brake hold and to be honest my only other experience with a car equipped with brake hold is a BMW X5 and I feel the RX brake hold is smoother if not the same.

Thanks guys for the replies. Last time I went to the dealership for my first checkup, the service representative had literally NO idea at all what I'm talking about regarding the brake hold issue (giving me replies such as, oh there must be friction otherwise the car can't stop) nor the silicon wiper blades I was requesting for, I figured it's a total waste of my time to keep communicating with this individual.
Guess sometimes you just have to find the right person, will check back with them on my next service.
