Default Marginal Cost of RX Miles

I've been playing with KBB.COM to figure out the true marginal cost of miles on an RX. I generally keep a vehicle 2 to 3 years although, for complicated reasons, I've had 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 RX vehicles. I'm trying to determine the marginal cost per mile of 12,000 miles per year to about 20,000 miles per year. Lexus leases use .25 per mile, but my own calculations show that, it seems, that real marginal cost of those extra (up to) 8000 miles per year is only about half that. Is this really right? Does an RX depreciate only $1000 more if you drive 40,000 in two years instead of merely 24,000? Am I missing something?

Interesting. Considering it's a lexus I am hoping to keep the car for 10+ years MIN.

If I understand,
2 Year old Lexus RX 24,000 miles, worth X.
2 year old Lexus RX 40,000 miles worth X - $1000

If I were shopping for a used car I would be willing to pay more for low mileage, than save $1000 for an extra 16,000 miles.

Most low mileage cars tend to bring in more cash for the dealer and should in turn bring in more for a trade.

I don't think there is only a $1000 difference in the 24K vs 40K. One might be considered good trade in value vs average trade in value.

It could be $1000, but that seems a little tight, perhaps $2.5-3K would seem more realistic.

daryll40, according to my dealer, if the condition at 40K is the same as 24K, the price difference is minimal, maybe $1500. He said a 40K unit is still very desirable. So your calculations are probably very close.
