is it touchless?

If not, don't even bother taking it to the car wash.

If you REALLY don't care.

AUTO fold your mirrors.

It should be in neutral so nothing should be functioning anyways

Fold your mirrors and turn off the wipers. No need to turn anything else off.

I had to laugh when I read this about the parking assist sensor: "Do not apply intensive bursts of water or steam to the sensor area. Doing so may result in the sensor malfunctioning."

So Lexus would rather you not wash your car and you're on your own if the sensor gets wet. (I kid, but not much)

Well I've seen some people use pressure washers to wash their cars...so I'm not surprised they have this warning (that nobody will read). Pretty sure a quick burst from your garden hose or local car wash wouldn't damage it.

Here is what is recommend from the manual and what I did before going through the car wash and I didn't have any issues.
  • Fold-in side Mirrors by pressing button on door
  • Turn off Auto Back-Door Sensor, in menu on dash display
  • Turn off Auto Windshield wipers as well
If you do these items you should be fine.

Lexus really should make a car wash mode. The beeping sensors drive me nuts... it's supposed to be relaxing during a carwash for the drive throughs... I do hand and let other shops drive thru for me but sometimes I like to blast classical music while going through myself...a very uplifting experience.

I agree with the above, no need to do more. I have been countless times through car wash and no beeping, no sensors going nuts, etc. I am using a fairly high-end computerized car wash, they ask me to put my car into neutral.

I only use the automatic car wash at the Lexus dealer. I doubt they are turning off any of the sensors. I have had it washed 3 times in the first month of ownership without any problem.

They go crazy indeed. I usually wash the car myself but went through a wash once after a bad snow with salt and grime everywhere and it was still too cold to do it myself. This is great advice - dont think any harm can be caused but it gave me two minutes of anxiety hoping nothing had broken.

I never take any of my cars to cloth or spinner car washes only no touch. In there I just park the car and let the robotic arms wash and clean the car hence no activation of any sensors

cheers

Except for the wipers, I'd not worry. It's been mentioned that most of these features are not active while in Neutral.

The biggest worry would be the hatch opening during the wash, I wonder if that has ever happened. I don't see where a lot of owners would go through the menus to find the off switch for the rear hatch. Or is there still one in the glove box?

say, learning the best way to wash by hand or self serv is with the fob not on you, lol
lots of beeps, mirrors folding, things like that. but if in a self serve wash bay, just spraying, where do i put the fob, thought the rear hatch was going to open yesterday.

must be the door sensors all around for locking and unlock and the rear hand sensor.

Auto wipers off, ear plugs in, blindfold on. Start the 2 minute countdown. =]
