SHOCKING even as I'm writing this.

REPAIR COST all in incl taxes, $29K. Not a typo. $29,000 !!

Had to validate some of the parts myself and indeed, parts are costly and make up most of the cost. $4K just for one headlamp!

And this is all just cosmetic, no structural damage. WOW!
"Wow" is right. That number tells you something about why car insurance is as expensive as it is. The cost of repairing the front 15 inches or so of the car comes to about half of the cost of the entire car.

Good luck with the repairs.

4 Sensors? The PCS is a single radar that detects METAL objects, aka cars. And the LKA camera on the windshield will detect pedestrians.

I'm assuming that the PCS did not have enough time to detect the Rav4 since both vehicles were going upwards of 10mph. (It usually takes about a second or 2 for it to detect a car IN FRONT, let alone an angel). Also mind that the PCS radar is located behind the Lexus Emblem, which is in the center of the vehcile.

Sucks about the RX, glad everyone is alright. Too bad, you cant write this off as totaled. 29k to fix... rather get a new one =D

that's crazy.. you can get a low end prius prime with that money. No way you can buy them yourselves and have someone install them?

That's what Lexus Tech told me. For the auto braking to be activated all 4 sensors must detect the obstacle, if only 3 no auto braking.

Now you know why car insurance in Ontario is so high. There have been some interesting articles in the Toronto Star about this ....

The parts suppliers, manufacturers, and body shops must be laughing all the way to the bank.

That is ridiculous. 25,500 for the repair, less 16500 for parts( maybe) , that leaves 9000 for labour. let's say 120/hr that's 75 hours in repair. And I bet Carstar is approved by the insurance company. I would be swearing here but mods would blank it out. Complete robbery!!!!

The front end of my vette got nailed just like yours did and the bill was $10,600. But a Lexus is three times as expensive!

Check with your insurance to see if they will give you any compensation for diminished value. Trade in or lease return is going to be a big difference.

He might had mistaken the 4 senors (circle shaped, in front of the bumper and rear bumper of the car) are for the parking sensors. Will only work when going ~5mph, aka parking speed. THIS will give the driver sound warnings when parking, and detect obstacle to prevent hitting so. For the newer '17 RX, there is a similar function (like the PCS), called ICS (Intelligent clearance sonar) that will stop the vehicle at lower speeds when parking (if impact is imminent).

PCS (that stops the vehicle @ driving speeds) is a single radar that is build behind the Lexus emblem. I'm a tech specialist at Lexus so yeah.

The Lexus tech is wrong.

Wow, I knew it was going to be a lot with a new headlight required but 29k is off the charts!
