Can someone explain how the GPS system receives information about changing traffic conditions when it has no sim card installed ? Someone told me it receives it via a radio signal through an FM station on the radio ? Is this correct ?
Many thanks

I was told that traffic is by HD radio. What I do not understand is how it detects slower traffic.

I will not use Google and the Radio traffic maps are usually right on for me.

Hell, I use my Garmin if I go across town. I'd get to my destination before I can get it entered into this stupid navigation system in this car.

I see many people here using their Garmin or phone instead of in dash GPS navigation.
Nowadays people expect more from GPS than just show them the map or turn by turn direction.
Live traffic, accidents etc are the ones people expect and that is why they use Garmin or Google Maps (which is the best).
I see folks in US can get some sort of live traffic for main streets and highways with their navigation But in Canada it is only map.
I see no point to get Navigation with RX (at least in Canada) when you do not use it.
In dash car navigation that offered by automaker is OLD technology, cannot be updated or it is costly.
That is why majority of automaker adopted Android Auto and Apple car play.
It is unfortunate that Lexus/Toyota resist this new trend.

Simple, they expected to make more revenue with their Enform service...
BUT like you said, it's a shame they are lagging behind in technology that even old GPS can offer more.

I have had few problems with my "in dash NAV system". I could get my iPhone to do the same but still find the vehicle system pretty easy to use.
The Garmin NAV and Radar work great on my Luhrs.
