I just got a 2016 RX 350 last month and I remember on my 2016 GS the display screen auto switching to night mode when the headlights came on. Does the RX have that feature? I see you can manually turn off day mode to get night mode when you click on the display button.

Recently while driving my wife's RX and passing thru a shady area, I noticed the Nav/Audio Visual display darken to what I can only guess is "Night" Mode(low light). It retains this mode for quite a while and is very irritating if I am try to navigate in a densely populated area.
Is there a way to avoid this of turn it back to 'Daytime' brightness? I have tried to locate the light sensor with no luck.

The sensor is on the dash close to the windshield. It adjusts all the lights of the cars: headlights, interior lighting, map background coloretc. You can adjust the sensitive of the sensor int eh customization menu. Menu -> car icon -> Customization (or something like that) and look for light sensor sensitivity. I wa also annoyed how it changed under bridges and set it to the least sensitive (-2). It helps, but still changes is the shade is on for longer times. Seems to help under bridges.

You can disable that feature through the menu if it annoys you. Mine returns to normal quickly on both of our vehicles so not sure why yours gets delayed.

I hate when I back out of my garage or parking garage at work (both are dark areas), the screen is in 'night' mode and makes it difficult to see the rear camera view. It's stupid there is a day/ night option when your car is in reverse. The screen should be in day mode only when you are in R, to give you the best view of what's behind you.
Not the same car but I just picked up a ct200h, and when I have my lights on and go into reverse the screen is washed out. As soon as I turn the lights off I can magically see. I didn't even realize this was a thing via night mode, but I find it extremely hard to back up and probably taking my car to the dealer to see if anything is not right. I know my wife's NX and my RCF do NOT exibt this behavior and I have no issues driving/back up at night. Your post is the only one I have seen that shows this problem as well.
In terms of turning on the headlight then going to the display and changing it to day mode does this mean that the screen will constantly be bright all the time? I can see that being too much driving at night, I just wish when putting the car in reverse the screen wouldn't dim like it does, but I wouldn't want the screen to be full brightness during normal night time driving.
