Correct, as that would be included in the "since 2011".

But I just don't get where some people say that it requires Premium.

450h --> Premium
350 --> Regular

As simple as that.

If there's a decrease in performance from using 87 octane gas, the owner manual wouldn't even recommend using 87. Owner manuals are very specific and it'll state that it needs 91 octane or higher, just like the RX450H and IS200t manuals. The IS200t also has a sign that says to use premium fuel next to the gas cap.
The problem is the owners manual of RX 350 is not clear about it. Most Ford performs the best with octane 93 and the horsepower rating on paper is with the 93 octane. But their manual says minimum 87 octane and recommend 93.
2011 Lincoln MKX says recommends octane 87.
2001 Honda Odyssey minimum 87, recommend 91.
2017 Mercedes/BMW, Require Premium( not recommend)
2017 Lexus RX 350 just says minimum 87 and nothing more.
That’s why it’s confusing a lot of people.

This link is from Lexus: http://lexus2.custhelp.com/app/answe...xus-vehicle%3F

The manual states to not use anything below 87. Using higher will not harm anything. It's as simple as that.

This is what the manual states : "Select 87 (Research 91)" For whatever research means, it is not required.

Other consideration: no more than 15% of Ethanol in the fuel.

Ya, says “will not harm”. What does that mean? Why can’t it simply say “ regular recommended” “ no performance increases if using above 87 etc.

When it stays recommends 87 or higher, it confuses people.

Our 87 is equal to European 91 (RON 91, Reasrch on number 91)

I just had an interesting reading. Thanks Elation for enlightening me about RON!

Oh, thanks for pointing it out. I didn't realize that. I have a GS and an RX, both 2008, both require premium fuel. I always stick with the manufacturer's recommendation.

its only a $0.20 different between 87 and 93 around you??

wowza its like $0.70 here in MD..

but as pointed out by many in this thread.. i just follow the OEM recommendations..

The problem as I see it is what people read into the manual. It says that you can use 87, but there is no recommending it. I've never seen that verb in the manual, but people understand it as such.

I read "select" or higher. Higher because if 87 can be used, there is no added benefits to use higher, but you CAN. But it is designed to use 87.

You can read in all you want. They require you to use a minimum of 87 octane. Using anything higher will not harm anything but your wallet. There is no performance advantage to using a higher octane, other than what your head wants to believe.
