I think the auto care/detailing thread might be a strange place for this question, but I would say depends on your needs, the RX is bigger, but the NX is sportier and a little more fuel efficient.

Jeffpj, welcome to CL. I'd suggest taking a look at this thread from corrado. The comparison is between a 3RX F-Sport and the NX200t but it should give you an idea. Maybe he'll update it since he moved into the 4RX F-Sport earlier this year. And there's a 4RX price thread stickied on top of the forum.

All comes down to money. IF you have the money the RX is great.

IF you want to save a couple thousand wait till september for the 2018 NX. MUCH better than the current gen.

You got to go and test drive them both. I have a friend who has the NX and when I get in it is tight compared to the RX. The NX motor seems to have to work harder and has more noise to me.

If you can afford, I will bet you pick the RX after text driving both.

I test drove the NX before settling on the RX. Way different - go drive both. NX is tight and a bit noisy as mentioned here. Also premium fuel required for the turbo 4cyl. RX just more eye catching as well.

seems if you are accustomed to ES, you will like the silky smooth ride of the RX.
I have both 16NX and 17RX, both FSport.
If destination is nice restaurant, use RX.
For quick trip to market or local park, NX.
Long trips? If by myself, NX. If another person joins me, RX.

Love the NX turbo so much.

I test drove both the NX and the RX. The NX felt very cramped inside.

I agree with this from my experience.

You would have to drive both as we can't tell you which one you would prefer or would meet your needs the best.

Having driven/owned both, the NX was a little cramped, especially after driving the RX first. It is a more firm ride, perhaps a little easier to negotiate traffic and parking. The NX is nosier inside the cabin and has a little less room for "stuff" Mileage was good and the one I had was nicely equipped and a good overall car.

The RX seems large after driving the NX, It is smooth, quiet, and comfortable for long trips. It uses more gas, some might find it harder to park, but has more room for your "stuff" I would usually choose to drive the RX as it was much more comfortable for me.

The comparison between the RX vs. NX is very similar to the BMW X5 vs. the X3, there is no comparison in either case.
