Thanks. What does the +30 mean? With a 8" rim width, it would seem like they are "almost" too wide for 235 tires, which require a 6.5 to 8.5" width rim, where as the 255 tires require a 7 to 9" width, putting the 8" rim right in the middle of the required width. 265 tires require 7.5 to 9.5" rim width.

The +30 is the offset in millimeters. The width of the wheel is determined by many different factors. Engineers must consider vehicle weight, cornering inertia, braking, suspension type, appearance and vehicle usage just to name a few. Information about your vehicle's tires and wheels can be found in section 9 (Specifications) of the owners manual.

Not sure any of this is correct...

I know I would never put a 265 on a 7.5 rim, An 8" rim is best suited for 225 or 235 with max 245.

I'm not sure how you figure that is anymore correct. The specs for tires states that a 255 can fit a 7" to 9" rim width, there's no interpretation required on that spec. As for a 225, no, the rim is too wide. But hey, you can interpret how you want.

Here are two places to get info...

I said I would never put a 265 on a 7.5 inch rim.....You can, and folks do, especially the off-road crowd. But for a heavy SUV a 265 on a 7.5 inch rim is not for me.

Cheers

Okay I agree, but who's talking about putting a 265 on a 7.5" rim? I was saying, as well as others on this thread, a 255 on an 8" rim, big difference. If you look at the other 2 links in this thread for tire size vs rim size, they both say different than the links you give, which by the way your links show the same table just on different sites.

You did "265 tires require 7.5 to 9.5" rim width"

I was just pointing out I would not do that! Me just me.... wow

Of course the charts are the same as this is recognized by different tire professionals as safe..

Thanks, cheers

Done with this thread....

Don't know where you read that in one of my posts. I just went through my posts and no where did I say that, unless you misread what I was saying.
So I guess the links posted by others here for the data on this must be wrong then, but yours must be the correct ones, well okay then.
Oh you're leaving, okay goodbye.
I just sent Nokian an email asking the same question, I guess I'll wait and get the answer from a real tire manufacturer and share it with others on this thread.

CORRECT, I was stating that according to the data sheet from a link provided on this thread, it shows that a 265 width tire requires a 7.5" to 9.5" rim. I never said I was putting a 265 on a 7.5" rim. Perhaps if it's not too much trouble for you then you should click on the links provided and see for yourself.

No issues turning, braking or maneuvering. Thanks for your help! Posted some quick picks while the folks from ASAPtire were installing the tires in my garage - awesome home service.
Hello,
I am looking at running the same configuration on my non-fsport 2016 rx 350. I really want to try out the 265/50/20. How was your overall experience? Do you still have it running? Did you encounter any issues because of the rims? Sorry for the numerous questions but I don't want to reinvent the wheels and venture into something that will not work. Please kindly respond to my message when you see it. I will super appreciate that.
