This looks to a German made product, is it? Thanks!

I'm glad that it's Qi-certified. Very interested in this as I've been using Qi charging since it was first available.

It is a 5W charger. Here are the Specs. I have been researching to do the same add-on. AVC is a good manufacturer of coils and chargers. It is nice to know it is Qi-certified.

They have newer models that are automotive guidelines complaint. This is important for foreign object detection.

Have you found where these newer modules can be purchased? Thanks.

lI have been looking for these newer modules, but not yet found a reputable dealer that carries them. I will post a link once I find a dealer.

I do do not see it on their website, so they might not yet been released. Just got certification this summer, so it might be a month or so before they are out.

Default Adding Wireless Charging

My RX 450h didn’t come with the wireless charging feature, but I’d like to add it. There are a few aftermarket models out there, but I’m curious if the wiring is already inside the console. Does anybody know? Has anyone added this (not the portable pads, but the actual built in model) after they took delivery?

For those of you that already have the wireless charging feature, will the phone charge in its case or does it have to be removed from the case? In all of the photos I’ve seen online, they show the phone charging with no case.

So, I sent this post back in December 2018 and no one has responded as of yet. Our Camaro came with wireless charging, but it’s next to worthless because only a tiny phone will fit in the charging slot. I’m curious if the Lexus system is a plug and play set up or will it require running wires, etc. There are also some aftermarket kits available, but they also had many quirks.

Default Surprise my 2019 RX doesn’t have wireless charging?

My wife and I just bought a 2019 RX350 F-Sport. I just installed the OEM running boards FYI.

Anyways, our vehicle doesn’t have wireless charging though it does have about every option Lexus offers including Mark Levinson audio, Panoramic roof, radar cruise, etc.

i was looking around and since I work in the auto business world I reached out to my local Lexus parts department.

There is a wireless charger that goes right below/behind the gear selector in that little cubby hole.

He ran my VIN and that part did not show up but when he got rid of the VIN that part appeared. So it was probably that they don’t wire our vehicle for that part but it shows up for a 2018 model RX.

Has anybody retro fitted the wireless charger?

If so, was there wiring already there? Comments?

The Qi wireless charger was never available for US-market RX. We Canadians do get the wireless charger as part of the top F-Sport and Executive packages. I don't think anyone has ever gotten a proper answer as to why it was only available in RX's sold in Canada. Licensing issues perhaps?

Here's my wireless solution. Only had to pop off one piece of trim to run the wire. I like this location because I use Waze all the time and this is up higher. Everything was purchased through Proclips. I've moved the mount a little to left and that allows almost 100% airflow from the vent under the mount to reach the passenger.

I just ordered the OEM wireless charging cubby from my local dealer. I verified that the wiring harness is already in place and there will not be a need to modify anything. Plug & Play.

Ill let you guys know once it’s installed.

My install was $30 and took less than 5 minutes... see photo in my thread above

I purchased a Qi charger from Amazon:
Amazon.com:
Amazon Amazon

And a Anker Quick Charge 12vt plug:

Amazon.com: Quick Charge 3.0, Anker 24W USB Car Charger (Quick Charge 2.0 Compatible) for Galaxy S7/S6/Edge/Plus, Note 4/5, Nexus 6, iPhone, LG G5 V10, Samsung Fast Charge Qi Wireless Charging Pad and More: Electronics Amazon.com: Quick Charge 3.0, Anker 24W USB Car Charger (Quick Charge 2.0 Compatible) for Galaxy S7/S6/Edge/Plus, Note 4/5, Nexus 6, iPhone, LG G5 V10, Samsung Fast Charge Qi Wireless Charging Pad and More: Electronics
You need to use this type of plug to get at least 2 amps to go to the Qi charger.
All together it was about $30.00

It works and fits perfectly for my Samsung S7 - phone stays put and no sunglasses blowing up :-)

Awesome! I can’t stand freak’n wires & crap everywhere. I want a nice factory-looking install, so I’m anxious to hear about & see this!

Before I ordered I took apart the console as soon as I got to the cubby I could look down behind the stuff and see that there was a harness wrapped in foam. I knew this was the harness because of my experience dealing with vehicles.

I placed the order based upon that. I do want to check to see if the wiring is active or not. I need to put a multimeter on it to see. If it is it’s purely plug and play....EXPENSIVE but will work perfectly.

I’m going to install a quick charge outlet inside the armrest for faster charging and if the passenger wants to use their device while it’s charging.
