I have some special tools that work well to release and secure the floor mat locking mechanism - they're called fingers

Do they work in cold weather?

I have also heard people use "eyes" and "brain" for the inspection. I am also interested in inspecting my floor mats and do not want to pay $4000 for a service package. How much do all these special tools cost? =D

RX manual calls for spark plug replacement at 120k miles.

Default Should I pay Prepaid Maintenance??

Has anyone prepaid for maintenance when they purchased a new Lexus? I just brought an RX and the dealer is pushing the prepaid maintenance plan I have a low mileage lease because I have a second vehicle just wondering if anyone sees the benefit in the plan?

I would never do that. If you're leasing, correct me if I'm wrong, I believe the first two are free. A low mileage lease is what, 10-12 a year? Then you give it back, no?
While you can always go to Lexus for your service, you don't have to. Many people have found Toyota dealers are just as competent as Lexus and much cheaper. You can also go to any shop, as long as you trust them and keep all records of services you have done. Your call.

I would run fast from anyone asking to sell you a prepaid maintenance. Your first two maintenance services are free. I pay less than $410 each for our ES 300h and RX 450h for every 30,000 miles. I never go in an ask for a 10,000 miles or 30,000 mile service. They charge ridiculous amounts for a lot of inspection of things that do not need to be inspected. Every 10,000 miles the oil needs to be changed. Every 30,000 miles the brake fluid needs to be changed. At 30,000 miles the cabin and air filter need to be replaced. I do mine at 20,000 miles and cost $45 for both and take 5 minutes to change. Every 20,000 miles I replace the wiper inserts at $15 and again five minutes to change.

You can save even more money by getting the service done at your local Toyota dealership.

Thanks that’s so true about Toyota I honestly don’t use the dealer as much I just got rid of my GS and took it to Toyota they use the same parts. I feel you on my going with the plan my lease is actually lower than 10k a year since I only drive two times a week as I have a company car I think I will skip out on that plan. Thanks!!!

Thanks for the insight, I will skip out on the extra services I do a lot of stuff myself anyway like the cabin filters and to hit on your statement more Lexus honestly are not in the shops that much they are reliable

Default Service/Maintenance Agreement worth it?

Anyone have experience with and/or know whether it's worth it to purchase the pre-paid maintenance or the "Luxury Plus" program is worth it? Dealer said the prepaid maintenance pays for itself if with the first few non-covered maintenance service (after year 1). The Luxury Plus covers parts and labor beyond manufacturer defects, so it covers wear and tear. The cost for that is $2295 for 5 years/60,000 miles.

As long as you stick to the manufacturers recommended maintenance and NOT the dealer recommended baloney, you're usually better off not falling for that stuff. Lexus/Toyota products are extremely reliable. Your call.

I doubt it covers wear items - tires for example. They'll need replacement well before 60k miles. Prepaid maintenance is generally a big fat ripoff. Of course the dealer is telling you how great it is.
