Considering prepaid Maintenance service
#76
But there is a garage shop that I trust (the owner is running for positions in the local government so I know he'd try to be honest). He does a synthetic oil + oil filter change + tire rotation for $80 without a $10-off coupon.
In 4 years, you'll probably need 5 oil + oil filter changes (the dealer would go by the schedule 10K/oil change). Minus the first one free, that's 4 oil changes + probably 1 engine filter + 1 cabin filter, each about $25 + about $20 for various fluids. You do the math.
The Lexus dealer has a great espresso maker; and the garage shop just has plain water. But with the money not spending at the dealer, I can go to the Starbucks across the street.
Oh, wiper blades are $9.99 each at Costco, minus $3 if you catch them on sale every so often.

I wouldn't but some ppl sleep better to invest extended warranty plan. I would check the Carfax, and maintenance history for any re-occurring problems if you haven't already. Normally, the RX is pretty trouble free with only replacing wear items and scheduled maintenance this is my second one. If it was one of those used German vehicles it would be a hard Yes.

I got a 5 year/50k prepaid for $2k and I'm looking to cancel. I see that you can cancel through Lexus Financial Services. Has anyone tried that route instead of going through the dealer?

If it says you can cancel through LFS, it's probably done online or a phone call. I wouldn't bother with the dealer.

I called LFS this morning, and they said they weren't able to find the application via the application # nor VIN. Is it possible that the dealer hasn't submitted it to LFS yet?

I tried that route and they sent me back to the dealer who they said had to originate the request. In most states they have to refund the money. I called the finance manager and started the process. You have to be persistent because the finance manager will be losing commissions so they drag their feet. If you don't hear back in a week escalate to the dealer manager in writing. If it was financed they will take it off the end of your payment schedule, they don't send refund checks which is fair.
