RX 350 head-liner workmanship

I brought my RX to the dealership last week to fix a few issues. Mentioned the headliner cutting our fingers to the service adviser. He agreed it looks not properly done so he contacted Lexus. The final answer I got from him was: my RX is the same as other RXs (not a surprise to all of us here), so Lexus won't fix it. The dealer filed down the sharp edges from the harden headliner material that cut our fingers earlier. I guess if a defect is universal, it is not a defect. I think we need more complain from owners to get a fix from Lexus. My service adviser told me if there is a fix in the future, he will let me know

I don't think it is only on Pano roofs. Really it should be glued and tucked in under the metal(?) bar like the picture in post #9 (Japan made). But ours (Canada made) were glued over that bar. Some moon roof ones may look better. It could be because some workers cut smoother, while the people worked on Pano roof models could not even cut straight.

I would have noticed as I detail my own vehicles. Also, on the passenger-side interior corner radius there is some wrinkling on mine where it looks like they tried to work the liner material incorrectly. I'm not going to try to correct it so I do not make it worse.

Lexus had earned a reputation for doing things in hidden corners that would surprise you pleasantly. Such as the extra sound dampening material under the hood, inside the wheel wells, and underneath the vehicle etc. This finish killed that reputation especially that Lexus refuses to fix. If I were to see this in a lesser brand, I would have thought to myself "that was why it was not a Lexus". Seeing this, the thought now become "Is this a Lexus?" It just make you question everything that can't be seen. Not a good way to go.

Like that noisy and vibrating problem. People upgraded from rough and noisy cars may not notice that issue. My RX is not that bad, and after one year ownership I am getting used to it. But every time I drive my Mitsubishi Outlander, it just reminds me that a $25k cheap brand SUV can be smoother and quieter than a $55k luxury SUV

I'm not going to lose any sleep over the headliner. I'm also not happy about it. This is our first Lexus and we chose it over MB, BMW and just slightly over Audi. If we get the Lexus legendary reliability, we'll be happy overall. After following all the proper break-in requirements we have taken two four-hundred mile trips and we're truly enjoying our RX.
