If they take the captain seats where are you going to put the car seat? You probably don’t want to put it in the 3rd. The big boys need to give little one priority I don’t think leg stretch is the only problem. If you have your wife sit back there with the little one your ears won’t probably like it. Best luck to you. Yeah trying out is the best wait.

Those kids sitting in the 3rd row are going to have to be very, very small.
Here's what I did today at the Kansas City Auto Show in an RX 350L.
First I sat in the front passenger seat and adjusted it so I was comfortable while moving the seat forward as much as practical but not so far that my knees touched the dashboard. By the way, I'm a normally proportioned 6' tall, 180 pound male.
Then I sat in the 2nd row captain's chair behind the front passenger seat I had just adjusted. I moved the 2nd row captain seat forward as much as practical without going so far as to have my knees touch the front passenger seat back.
Then I measured the distance between the forward edge of the 3rd row seat cushion and the back of the 2nd row captain chair. It was THREE INCHES!!!
What kind of child is going to be able to fit his/her legs in a three inch "slot".

Thanks for taking the time to test and report back. This is not very good news. We may need to reconsider, RX 450h or possibly another car altogether.
Don't do it, you'll never get him out! That 3rd row is for kids only.[/QUOTE

The third row in the RX is meant for kids, an adult can sit there and tolerate maybe for 30 minutes tops. It is nice that you can have extra trunk space with the seats down. Some clients like it.
FYI the captains chair option is only available for the RX 450h as of now.
Hope that helps.
