OEM Michelin, OEM Bridgestone Vs Other (merged threads)
#151
As per my other recent post, my OEM Michelin tires appear to be approaching their end soon at 18,000 miles. Common here in Pittsburgh to only get that kind of mileage. I priced another set of these at about $850, including installation, vs the OEM Bridgestone tires at about $100 less ($25/tire or $750 for 4, installed). Might the Bridgestones last longer? What about some other tire? What do you folks recommend?

TIRES: Bridgestone or Michelin 20”?
Hi first post but been a long time lurker. Really appreciate the community thus far.
I just wonder why my 2016 4RX350 had 20” Michelin Premier LTX on the vehicle but all the other RX’s i see on the road have Bridgestone Ecopias on? Is it a specific range of 4RXs that are equipped with the far superior LTX tires? Manufacture date 07-16.
What tires are on your 4RX?

I have the Michelins as well and they are wearing quite well despite the stories I hear. Approaching 20k and they will be good for another 20k or so.

Pole Position
Sorry that it took me this long to notice this post, directed toward me. Yes, tires and brakes are a big part of the driving expense here in Pittsburgh. Need to do both every 18,000-25,000 miles or year to two years. I am sure that there are better, lighter drivers than me, but my experience is quite common here. Lots of hills, bad roads, potholes, traffic. etc etc. Did I mention hills?

I understand that tires mounted on "20 inch" wheels do not get as good mileage experience as those on 18" rims. I have seen Lexus warnings to this effect.???

the michelins start with 8.5/32 come on the Lux package in the states (at least on my 17rx lux)

interesting, those are the wheels on your vehicle, might have been a 17 thing with the Mich ??
your seats have the stitch down the middle and you have the rear sunshades in the doors ?? just checking.

My CPO MY2016 RX 350 F Sport came with the Bridgestone Ecopias tires, while my parent's 2017 RX 350 F Sport came with Michelin Premier LTX tires. I've driven both extensively and can't really tell the difference in terms of handling and road noise. For those who have used both, which one seems to last longer? Both of the RX's in our family don't do huge mileage so I can't comment on longevity yet.

Bridgestone Ecopia Tires and Hydroplaning
Has anyone noticed their Bridgestone Ecopia tires hydroplaning after normal wear? I have 21,000 miles & I rotate my tires every 5,000 miles. My tires don’t show any accelerated wear & have plenty of tread left, yet they are beginning to hydroplane a lot at highway speeds. I’m wondering if this is a normal thing with these “low rolling resistance” tires. I would gladly give up a little fuel mileage to not have to fight this. It’s annoying & scary & shouldnot be happening at this low of mileage.

Is that an all weather or summer driving tire?

From the "Tire Rack" website. It got a 7.1 "Good" rating on hydroplaning resistance in the reviews by customers. Of course, wear matters.
