I'd put Kumhos on my Lexus if they were up to the task.

That's sort of like saying if your grandmother had a beard she'd be your grandfather.

I'm laughing!

Actually, the correct version of this old Yiddish saying was something a bit different than "if your grandmother had a beard..."

Anyway, Kuhmo tires, I don't think, are Lexus worthy.

all good. Need some laughs these days. I once had Kumhos and they were perhaps the worst tires Ive ever driven on.

Any thoughts on noise and wet traction between the GY Assurance Maxlife and the Michelins? Is the Michelin reference the Premier LTX?

I would say the Goodyears may be a touch quieter, definitely smoother ride and wet traction fine for both. I also think the Goodyears will last longer but that remains to be seen. Premier LTX yes was the oem.

I was told by someone that if I buy the Michelin Premier LTX then I should buy the LTX-DT. Your thoughts?

The challenge is the the DT version is not offered in all sizes. Michelin's site does not mention DT at all, as far as I can tell. Discount Tire Direct only shows the DT version in 235/255/265/285 widths across all diameters and only 255 and 265 at 20". I'm shopping for my wife's Honda Pilot, and those won't fit.

Supposedly the DT version has a different rubber compound to extend life, although the DT and non-DT versions have the same 620 treadwear rating and the same 60K mile warranty.

Leave it Toyota to come up with nonstandard tire sizes!

Yep. When I got my RX F-Sport, I made sure to ask for a tire swap from the Bridgestones to the Michelins.

Anecdotally, both tires are bad when it comes to tread wear, but the LTX has the benefit of the expanding grooves when it wears down so you don't lose as much traction. I also found the Ecopias produced slightly more road noise on the highway. In Canada, the LTXs are also about $150 more for a full set of 4 compared to the Ecopias so I mean, why wouldn't you get the dealer to put the more expensive brand on?

I had a set of LTXs on my old RX prior to upgrading, and aside from checking the pressures every so often, they never gave me any trouble.

Thanks man! What's a good winter tire for the RX? Will probably pick up a pair from Costco eventually to get the insurance discount.

Any further comments about the

Pirelli - SCORPION VERDE ALL SEASON PLUS II?

Specifically with respect to treadwear / treadlife?

The 20" version of the above being offered via my tire dealer is a H-rated tire. Would that be okay to use on my 2016 Rx FSport (which I believe came with V-rated tires)?

I don’t have an F-Sport, but I went down to the H rated. Unless you plan to do most of your driving over 100 mph, it won’t matter much. The rule of thumb is you can only go up or down one rating, so these will work. My Pirellis are wearing great. If you feel the need to stay at the higher rated V, check out some of Goodyear’s offerings. They are competitively priced.
