That's interesting, about the shorter profile. I would suppose that would throw the speedometer (and odometer) off a bit -- is it noticeable?

Here in Ohio, it's about impossible to get a tire store to install tires that are different from OEM size. You have to have a mechanic in the family.

The new tire is .2 inches smaller overall than the OEM. The sidewall is .1 inch smaller.

OEM Tire 30.2 Diameter, 9.3 Width, 5.1 Sidewall, 94.8 Circumference, 669 Revs Per Mile
New Tire 30 Diameter, 10 Width, 5 Sidewall, 94.3 Circumference, 672 Revs Per Mile

At 65 the new actual MPH is 64.7

I bought the tires online and had Roll by Goodyear come to my house and install.

I just got the Continental Crosscontact LX25 put on. I'll report back once I've done more driving, but first impression is great! All new tires are pretty quiet so that's not surprising, will need to assess that after some miles are on. But the tires were smooth, I felt a bit more insulated from road imperfections. We'll see how they do in the rain and winter here. Was $925 installed (tires + sales tax which is ~9%), done at Discount Tire.

I have a 2016 Lexus RX350 FSport (AWD) with 20" wheels.

I had ordered the Pirelli - SCORPION VERDE ALL SEASON PLUS II tires from Costco online and they arrived in the Costco warehouse for installation (235/55R20, Speed Rating: H).

When I showed up for my installation appointment, the Costco tire centre technician said that these tires would not work on my car. He said that if I chose Pirelli tires, I would have to stick with a V-rated tire, since my OEM tires were V-rated. He said that if I went down to a H rated tire from Pirelli, my braking distance and handling would be affected and it would be unsafe.

He also said that if I chose a Michelin or Bridgestone tire, I could go down to a H rated tire and that would be acceptable.
In the end, I got a refund on the tires.

What are everyone's thoughts on the tire technician's comments?

Find another technician - this guy is a moron. You can safely go down one rating from V to H. That rocket scientist thinks it’s OK to go down to an H in Michelin or Crapstone, but not Pirelli?? Report this dope to the store manager!

Also agree with gadgetman. Your post even prompted me to Google the question. I was not able to find any evidence that an H rated tire from a specific manufacturer was any different than the others. In fact, Tire Rack lists that Pirelli as recommended with the H rating. Most articles I read said that H and V were more or less interchangeable (assuming you are not actually driving at the 130/149 mph limits). The difference is more emphasis on long life and comfort (H) versus more performance oriented and handling (V). It's ridiculous to suggest that one H rated tire is unsafe but the other H rated tires are OK.

I'd go demand an explanation, and see if they give you a discount for your trouble.

Had my first drive in a hard rain with lots of standing water. 70 mph and it plowed through standing water like it was nothing. Felt tethered to the road at all times. So far, super happy with this tire.

My 2017 had Michelin and they were on last leg when I exchanged the car the new 2020 one has Bridgestones.. both tires are junk imo.. these will less likely last more than 2 years or 20k m
Surprisingly, I had smoother ride with Bridgestone ( with Sport suspension mode ) maybe because the tires were new
