Has anybody had an issue with a single clicking noise when applying the brakes at low speeds ? I am starting to "fixate" on it and its driving me nuts ! Its not loud by any means, but its not very subtle either.

Does this clicking happen only once when you initially apply the brakes? If so, two things to look at. First is the slide pins. One of the pins has a rubber bushing on it to reduce pad/caliper shift that is normal on floating calipers. On the RX, it needs to be on the bottom pin. Second, are you missing pad hardware? Sure the pads will fit and work, but they will slap around.
Oh and a side note, does it happen in drive or reverse?

Thanks for the reply. I havent tried to see what it does in reverse and if I am cruising at like 5 - 10 miles an hour if I keep applying brakes and then drive again and hit the brakes, it keeps doing it, so to answer your question it makes one clicking noise but if I keep applying the brakes it keeps making the same noise each time, it doesnt go away. It is a 2017 RX450h with 14K miles.

As a side note, I know my whse guy who knows alot about cars said the brake discs didnt look good at all (I think he said they looked really scratched up) and the guy at Discount Tire said the same thing. Not sure if its all related.

The RX450h, does have some inherent clicking when you first apply the brakes. Its subtle, but shouldn't be extremely loud. I have a CT200h, and it does it. Honestly all the Lexus hybrids that I have driven do it. As for the scratches on the rotors. Are they perfect lines? I have seen all cars do that due to surface rust and road salt. Hybrids can be a little more susceptible to rusting of the rotors, as majority of braking is done by the hybrid system.

Yep, I think he said the same thing in regards to rust, salt, etc. And I think the lines are linear and parallel to the other lines, so along with the clicking thing, it sounds like its all pretty normal. Just gotta get used to it ! LOL Thanks for your help, have a super weekend !!!

Yeah, as long as the lines all line up with the rotor itself, it shouldn't be a big deal. Only when you hear grinding or have brake pulsation, then I'd say look into new rotors. But the brakes on the RX450h can last quite a while (some have seen almost 100k!). And you too, take care!

There is a switch behind the brake bar. every time you are applying the brake, the bar will hit on the switch and make a click noise. if that switch failed that mean ABS system will not work + you can not put the car into Reverse, because the transmission doesn't know you are applying the break.
I hope that answer your question. I ran into this before.![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
