Exclamation Toyota/Lexus Safety Recall -

FYI Everyone -

Toyota Motor Company issued a safety recall for certain Toyota and Lexus vehicles over a faulty vacuum pump assembly, which helps with braking assist.

The recall involves about 6,000 2018 Toyota Camrys and Highlanders, as well as Siennas, Tacomas and Lexus RX350s from the 2017 model year. Only models equipped with a vacuum pump assembly are affected.

A part of the assembly may have been built wrong, which can cause a warning light, message or sound to go off, or a sudden loss of braking assist. Left unfixed, the affected vehicles have an increased risk of crashing.

If you need to find out if your unit is affected by this recall go to:

You will need the vehicle VIN.

Default 2017 RX Recall

I just learned about this:

NHTSA Vehicle Safety Recalls

  • Recall Number18V211000
    Recall Date04/03/2018
    ComponentSERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:POWER ASSIST:VACUUM
    Summary
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2018 Toyota Camry and Highlander vehicles, 2017 Toyota Sienna and Tacoma vehicles and 2017 Lexus RX350 vehicles. During the manufacturing process, the oil galley in the rotor for the brake booster vacuum pump assembly may have been improperly machined possibly resulting in a sudden loss of brake assist.

    Consequence
A sudden loss of braking assist can increase the risk of a crash.
    What Owners Should Do
Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake booster vacuum pump, free of charge. The recall began on May 9, 2018. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371, or Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987. Toyota's numbers for this recall are J0K/JLD.

Hi, Thanks for the heads up. Although my 2018 RX doesn't have this issue, this make me curious and see if mine has any recall. In process of looking, I did see that there was a "Special Service Campaign" for the car's ICS. I confirmed this by logged into Lexus Driver web site.

Default 2018 RX Recall?

Dealer called me stating there is a recall on my 2018 RX. Something to do with the brake booster.
I did a search online to confirm. I found a recall on the 2017 RX for the brake booster issue along
with other Toyota models, but nothing on the 2018 RX.
Anyone know anything about this?
Thank you.
