To recap, my 2018 rx350L, does not have a tow package, it does have the 60/40 bench seat for the second row, and the factory tow hitch PT228-48180 and the factory tow hitch bumper cover PT228-48181 fit fine. There was not fussing or finagling, just follow the installation instructions that came/come with the hitch. The only feature/option that I don't have is the electricals for the connectiong trailer lights, etc..In my case, that doesn't matter because all I needed to do is carry a bike rack.

Default Kick sensor interfered???

The Converter plug is plug and play, there should not be one there with no towing package, simply remove cap and plug in the new relay. To the farther REAR side of the vehicle in the same area, is the the wire 16-XXXX that need to be swapped with 17-XXXX. You will see the plug when you remove the panel. Please look at pics above for reference to swap out the pigtail and let me know if anyone has a question. Thanks!

Re these pics:

Hello,

Your comparison very helpful, but I have question did your RXL come with hand free lift gate? If yes does it interfered with hitch installed? My RXL come with towing pkg but it does not have hand free lift gate due to Lexus advisor mention you can not choose both of them. Now I would like to install the hand free lift gate kick sensor. I already research all of parts (Bracket, Kick Sensor, wring harness) . But I cant find out any instruction or parts diagram. I tried to research everywhere in this club but no one know ab this. If you dont mind can you take a time to send me some pictures where does the bracket of sensor install (if your RXL equipped) please. I very need it to install on my RXL. Thank you in advance.

Did your Rx 350L come with hands free trunk opening? If you did, did the installation affect hands free trunk opening?

Default 2022 RX350L Tow wiring Harness

I bought the hitch receiver and trailer wiring adapter/pigtail that is easily available online. I chose the Lexus tow receiver as it looks best IMO. I also purchased the notched valance that replaces the stock under valance (cutout for the hitch receiver). I found that the fuse (30A) was already installed in the appropriate position so I did not need to add. I had some confusion around part #s from KVA's post so I wanted to offer these in case it helped someone. The replacement parking/backup luggage area sensor wire harness is part #82182-48170. Apparently there are a few of these harnesses and each has a different part # depending on what options you have (backup warning/assist, etc.). The part description is WIRE, LUGGAGE ROOM. The tow converter module I ordered was Denso Control Module OEM part #LA061800-1330 off eBay. It's blue and made for the Highlander of the same model year I believe. I had a local body shop pull the bumper cover off to install the replacement wire harness. I installed the hitch receiver myself. I plugged in the tow converter module and connected the trailer pigtail to the replacement wire harness that was installed at the body shop and TADA!!!!!.... worked like a charm.
I have a 2022 RX350L w/o tow package, and I installed the e-trailer hitch C13394 a year ago, mostly for carrying bikes. Now I am hoping to add the wiring harness, similar to what has been described above for earlier models.
Mine has the rear-door sensor (disabled by hitch) with the 16-82182-48-60 connector. My understanding is that I need to remove and replace this connector, but as mentioned it runs thru a very small metal cutout to the back left tail light and almost impossible to access without removing the bumper (which has sensors, etc. in it)?
Or, has anyone found a 4-pole connector harness with the plug that would work for the 16-82182? I know that there are older YT videos of persons splicing the wires for such a connections (which I could do but would rather not do).

Also, any opinion on whether using the relay module (Toyota 81985-YY020) is a better long-term option than the Curt trailer harness w/ powered converter (C56217)?
I've attaching one picture of the plugs from my 2022, in case it helps others:

 From 6/18/21 posting:
Rear bumper removal and factory tow hitch install on the 2016-2021 Lexus RX350 model
This may be the same VictorG video as the original that had been removed:
Worth a look, especially at the ~09:35 mark with the 4-pin connector, albeit with the bumper removed.
