Hi Mike, I'm from Australia where tipping/gratuities is not a done thing - with the two states that still prohibits self serve are you expected to tip the fuel filler person?

Most don't tip because we are fully capable of pumping ourselves, so if you insist on doing it for us, do it. If you frequent the same gas station - you can leave a decent tip during holiday season.

PS Every poll I've read, 80% never tips, and the other only when the weather is bad or the attendant did extra service.

I didn't know this even occurred in the US. Do other states do this? Do you have to pay more for your fuel to pay for the attendants?

I never do. Most of them act as if they're doing you a favor but it's the only way you can fill up in NJ.

Actually gas is significantly cheaper in NJ, where it's full-serve only, than in NY, where self-serve is the norm. Who can figure??

In my previous car, topping off could trigger an engine light and cost $$ to clear the error code.

My 2016 RX causes a dull tapping/helicoptering sound which comes from the rear. This happens when I fill up the gas tank to full @ the first click (I never fill beyond the first click). It occurs when the car’s gas tank is full, and I am stopped on a slight upward incline, with the transmission in Drive mode.

If you think you have this problem, try stopping your car on a slight upward incline with the gas tank full.

Has a solution been found yet??

I found this Technical Service Bulletin today from Lexus USA. It looks like there is a fix for the knocking noise that occurs when the fuel tank is full. On my vehicle, this has been occuring when the gas tank is "just full" and not overfilled.

Not sure if there is a similar TSB in Canada.

I wonder if you have to go in with a full tank so that they can make the diagnosis??

Probably not a bad idea to go in with the problem already happening.

I was asking as if bought used the previous owner could have overfilled the tank allowing fuel in the carbon filter till it stopped functioning as intended.
Obviously this was not the case, the only thing that comes to mind is fuel delivery system, pump or injectors, can't think of anything else.

Page 678 in the Owners Manual, 19.2 gallons. I don't remember putting in much more than 15 gallons, the low fuel light on.
