According to History | Company Information | TOYOTA MOTOR KYUSHU, INC. (toyota-kyushu.com), the 4th gen RX production started in KYUSHU facility in 2015. It also says the new 5th gen RX is manufactured, there, as well. Note that there are three distinct plants at this facility, and it is not clear to me which plant manufactures the RX.

 

I would agree with the Japan Lexus are better made, using high quality smaller metal parts. For instance, currently I have 2007 ES350 (Japan built) and 2016 RX350 (Canada built). I don't see any rust in my 2007 EX350 but i notice rust areas in my RX, around all door handles of 2016 RX, inside areas e.g under the front seats small metal cover will be rusted, truck liftgate structs shows rust. I went through and cleaned most areas and painted black. So far nothing major. I was looking to buy NX350 but most of the new ones are made in Canada, so l ordered NX450+ which is made in Japan for now..

 

From what I heard from our sales rep, all 2022 Rx350L models are made at the same factory n Japan. Here’s our window sticker showing

Btw, the rust under door handles are the door handle mounting screws from inside the door rusting and the water during rain abs wash runs over the screw and brings the rust on the paint.

You can just replace the screws.

This is a bad design on RX that carried over to RX.
