Folks, got a few requests to do a quick DIY how to rout the usb cables to the armrest box.
Hope this is helpful. Takes about 10 min.
NOTE: 2016 RX 350 NON-NAV system. I think the nav will be similar.
This is super amazing! Thanks for the detailed step-by-step pictorial.
If anyone had something like this for a 3rd gen RX, I would be tripping over myself.
So I got curious and I decided to test out Android Auto
I ordered these lightning to micro-USB adapters and plugged one into my lightning cable...and then plugged the micro-USB end to one of my old Android phones (Nexus 5)
And I must say...the Android Auto interface looks pretty ugly compared to Apple CarPlay 😅😅😅
Can anyone help me what needs to be done. Black screen Android box interface on AUX Source. But if I use hangup button on steering wheel it switches to Android interface. What should I do to make AUX work and car boots directly to Android box Source
So I’ve got the aux plug plugged in, aux set to external and yet the call quality is terrible. Since I disconnected the bt connection from the Lexus to the phone, I had to move a call from carplay to speakerphone because the caller couldn’t here me and said they could hear their own echo. It’s a nice device otherwise (though the sound for music is all kinds of messed up on ios13 currently) but for phone calls, it’s unacceptably bad for me.
I had that echo issue onfirst day but it went away when I deleted BT pair with Lexus factory system. Carplay phone calls for me and my callers have been great (wired and wireless) for a month now so I don’t know what could still causing the echo.

I’ve given up on this. I had to add Lexus bt back and when I need to make a call, I click Lexus bt on the phone instead of the box because the call quality via the box is so bad on mine that it’s basically useless. Cosmo????

It's strange, I never have any problem to make call through the box. My phone is connected to the box through the wireless carplay.
Hello,
I can't find the answer for this question directly, so please explain me. If i am in main carplay menu and switch voice button on the wheel, will bring Siri in listening mode or need make it manually by car's mouse.
Second question is when I have Google maps opening (focus on google maps) can I switch on Microphone by voice button on wheel and start giving orders to Google Maps?
so I found out today i can switch to android/carplay interface form lexus factory by pressing map button twice. this is better than aux select or hold down hand up for 3 seconds. not if this was an advertised feature.

Thank you for feedback
here is my experiecne
1. pressing the mic button on the wheel even in carplay menu will activate lexus factory voice command. i can only activate siri from remote mouse clicking and holding on home icon.
2. i use the Mic icon inside google map to give instruction to google map for destination add or search all the time and it work great but i can't use siri with it.
