It looks like the best option is the Grom Vlite? Is that still true, or would people recommend the Lsailt or a different option?
They all stink dude. Get a different vehicle that actually has it factory incorporated.

I bought and installed the wireless Carlinkit CarPlay/Android and it works great

Default Call quality

I’m trying to decide which unit to get and need help on getting some feedback on call quality. So far I heard the Grom solution has bad call quality and you can’t use car Bluetooth and Grom for directions at the same time. What solutions are you guys using and how’s the call quality and are you able to use the car Bluetooth while using CarPlay?

i use Lsailt and i am glad i got it.

yes, the call quality is bad if you connect carplay sound via AUX. but my trick is i normally connect carplay sound via Bluetooth, because via AUX it picks up some static noise.

anyway, when making a phone call, i use RX Bluetooth connection. And the sound quality is that of the RX Bluetooth connection -good.

with iphone, you can select which connection you want from iphone as well.

Hey everyone. I have read through all of the comments (yes it took me a while lol). But wanted one quick clarification. This is just the head unit, and not a new screen, correct? The listings on AliExpress are slightly confusing as one mentions "touch screen", but none of the 16-19 models have factory touch screens. (Here is the version I am looking at, which mentions "Android / carplay interface box for Lexus RX 2016-2019 12.3 video interface with remote touch control RX350 RX450h by lsailt" https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32832617100.html)

That is confusing as these models don’t have touchscreen as you said. Here is the one I bought which is half the price and works with either a joystick or touchpad

I watched the installation and user video. They said it is needed to turn off WiFi to connect via Bluetooth to the CarPlay. Seems odd WiFi needs to be off to connect via Bluetooth? Is that correct? I like how the unit hides all down under the dash and price is very reasonable at $300 vs $600 for other CarPlay

Thanks Jerry, overall would you say you're satisfied with the decision? As New450 said, that price point is one that would make the decision much easier.

No, wifi is used to connect to the wireless CarPlay. Both Bluetooth and wifi on my phone connect to the unit for it to work or at least I know if I disconnect the wifi from the unit CarPlay stops working. Their video is not helpful For installation. I just used the beat sonic video to figure out how to install and it was perfect. All the units are similar, this one is just a lot cheaper and has wireless carplay.

yes, right now the only issue I am having is my volume on my steering wheel is not working and believe it is because one of the pins is not catching on the cable harness, so just waiting for a new harness to arrive. Other than that every thing works as expected.

can you expand on this? Do you manually have to switch to RX Bluetooth when a call comes in? Or is it automatic and seamless?

Unfortunately I have to manually select the Lexus BT on the phone every time a call is answered or sent. In iOS 12 it was seamless, but in iOS13 it isn't.

I upgraded to the wireless single from Cosmo. Does anybody know what the password is for the WiFi?

I’ve been contemplating on getting an aftermarket CarPlay for my 16 RX. But it seems each company (grom, beat sonic, lsailt and carlinkit) has its issues. I have no problem using my phone for Waze. Just not sure if it’s worth the headache when things go left.
