Hi all. What’s the default Bluetooth code to pair the wireless dongle?
*update - disregard. Found it on the screen (duh). Now, I’m having an issue trying to connect to the wireless CarPlay (Lsalit) version.
the Bluetooth connects, and the message on the screen says it’s trying to connect, but fails. Any suggestions?

i will say that battery life over carplay wireless takes a noticeable hit, esp. when streaming music and navigating via google maps.

Will this thread ever end? Who needs this crap anyway. Buy yourself a stereo and be done with it.

OEM nav is next to useless. Navigating via only your phone is a compromise. CarPlay nicely integrates things together, while maintaining OEM look and feel. Definitely not “crap”.

I hope the thread doesn’t die. It’s been a valuable thread of info to help with my journey to Apple CarPlay. Belongs perfectly with the intent of this type of car forum.

1353 replies. and nobody has it figured out? What am I missing? Correct me if I am wrong but there are people here who have benefited from the feedback. Good for them. There should be answers to every question somewhere in this thread. I don't mean to be a jerk, but 1353 replies? really? Think about it.

Well, you made it 1354, and I added another to that to make it 1355.
I do think there are many helpful and informative posts here. But some people prefer TilTok style.
To each their own......

The cursor should act exactly the same as in your factory set up, as the units emulate the factory function of the stereo.

With VLine CarPlay you can also use SIRI, and it can be activated with NEXT TRACK press-hold on your steering wheel

this does not work with the 2018 rx350 f sport. Siri works by holding menu down on the center console, but as for steering wheel Siri support, this is false.

My wife has a 2019 RX450h which just missed the cut for Apple CarPlay. As you probably know, the default navigation system in the car is pretty terrible and so she’s always using her iPhone manually for directions, with no car integration. She really would like to use CarPlay instead. However, she’s not very technically savvy and third party solutions that are overly wonky or buggy will probably just make things worse.
What would you suggest we do?
1) get an aftermarket CarPlay solution. Is there one you’d recommend?
2) just live with what we have. My guess is this will only be viable for a year or two
3) trade in now to get a newer Lexus with CarPlay support (obviously not a preferred option)
its pretty crazy how important this one little feature has become for overall car experience, but I’m trying to figure out if any of the third party solutions work well and are idiot proof.

from $269 to around $700. You may need to add installation if you ask others to install it for you.
I install a Roadtop brand ($269) CarPlay device and I am happy with it. It occasionally has some glitch, but overall it meets my expectation. By way, trade-in such a new car for a CarPlay function is a bit extreme in my opinion.
