Lots of folks like the GROM, but I saw the Road Top link first and they were running a huge special. The other great part is that the unit came in five days instead of the 15 days projected. I was able to get it installed and firmware updated quickly. Been a fan every since.

I have the Grom VL2 in our Odyssey and although it hasn't been flawless and does hicup once in a while it has been a solid upgrade and brought a 2016 vehicle to the modern era. I can easily integrate music apps through the use of Android Auto and have traveled many places with google maps. So nice to speak a location on the fly and get it on the screen. Factory navigation has always been so difficult. Its worse in the Honda than the Lexus. I was exited to see that Grom was offering a "lite" version for the RX soon as I have not fully utilized the full version Grom I have in the van.

With that said I decided to pull the trigger and try the Road Top since it was so much cheaper. I installed it. I had all kinds of connection issues with the Road Top. Wired or wireless, it would lose connection to AA and go back to the factory screen or the screen would go black. I will say that Road Top was responsive with trying to help resolve issues but their tech support is in China so their hours are opposite of ours so took 24 hours to get a response. I tried several things they suggested and the issues were not resolved. They asked for a video of what it was doing so they could further diagnose. I decided at that point to pull the unit and send back for a refund as i was coming up on my 15 day return window. I will be waiting for the Grom VL2lite unit to come in stock and installing it into the RX. I can't speak to any Carplay operations as we don't have Iphones.

I wish that my experience had been better like that in the video of Professor Garage, The times it worked I loved having that big 12.3 inch screen with AA on it. So, even though the Grom system isn't perfect, just based on my experience dealing with them and they are based out of Dallas TX area getting responses back during the day is easy if you have issues.

Looking forward to install Road Top box in my RX. But I have a question - can I listen to radio and have carplay navigation on the screen? I don't care for voice prompts, I just need visual map with traffic, etc.

The VLite VT2 model for the newer Lexus vehicles will be available in the second part of February. It will not be included into the group order yet, as it is not released yet.
