Default The first free service by Lexus dealership?

Hi

I got my 2018 450h 15 months ago but it's only getting 8 000 miles as of today. The dealership where I got it from is 60 miles away with LA traffic.

I wonder if I could schedule the first free oil change service with a local Lexus dealership? And if it is well over 15 months? I imagine Lexus only gives this service within a year of the purchase date.

Or, just suck it up and do my own oil change and whatever 10k maintenance requires (probably eyeball all the fluid levels).

Thank you.

I believe the first free service is a bs service. Doesn’t consist of an oil change just a tire rotation and they customize whatever you want customized from there list. Stuff like for example how long do you want the interior lights to stay on after you lock the car, how loud do you want the relay to alarm when your blinkers are on silly stuff like that. The second service is a typical service with an oil change included. Call whatever your closest Lexus dealer is and they’ll give you a better answer that we probably can.

I'm pretty sure the first 2 services are free but they need to be used within a certain time frame & they do in-fact include an oil change (the 2nd one at least... I don't think an oil change is required for the first one). My first free service was done by the dealer I got the car from, some ~20 miles away or so. The 2nd I had done by a local dealer just a couple miles away from me.

Go to the nearest Lexus dealership for 10,000 mile service (FREE) that include oil change & tire rotation plus nice donuts & coffee.

You don't have to wait til 1o,000 miles if you have had the car over a year as you indicate above. I would suggest taking the RX in to the nearest Lexus dealer and have the Oil and service completed now. I believe the book sez 10,000 or one year, whichever comes first is the recommendation for service. I understand that an Official Toyota dealer can change the oil and provide service after the "free" ones. I understand they will notify Lexus or you can keep the receipts to validate your Lexus warranty if necessary?

I was in the same boat as you - around 8K miles on my RX in the first 12 months. First of all, you can go to any Lexus dealer for the first 2 complimentary services. In fact, you can even go to different ones. The first service is a tire rotation and personalized settings changes if you want any. That one you can do whenever you reach 5K miles but within the first 12 months for it to be free. Tire rotation is always mileage depend but Lexus puts a 12 moths limit on its complimentary services. The second service is again a tire rotation but adding an oil and cabin filter change and the usual multi point inspection. With the oil change though you shouldn’t really wait until you put on 10K mikes as the oil get old even if you don’t drive the car. That’s why the maintenance manual says 12 months or 10K whichever comes first. Also, I was told by my Lexus dealer and confirmed by another one that the second complimentary service must be done by the end of the 12th month for it to be free so that’s what I did.

I was told you have 6 months wiggle room on the free services, ie 18 mo to do your 1 year/10k service and for lexus to pick up the tab. One item to note: I got a little burned. i did my 1 year at 13 months, ie 1 month "late". Something happened i didn't expect. They said my alignment was off. My steering wheel was not centered. They showed me and tutored me on it and I believed it etc. the issue, that i was not even aware of, they said the alignment was guaranteed for 1 year. And that it would have been fixed under normal warranty, (for a new car i guess), had i been there withing 12 months. i was generally only aware of the regular 4 year 50k warranty and was never thinking of alignment. Anyway the charge was 139 for an alignment that would have been covered, (they said), if i was a month earlier, (ie within the first year). I complained a little and they said they couldn't cover it under warranty but gave it to me for 100 instead of 139. This is just a notice for those of you wanting to do it and its almost a year. You might want to go in just ahead of the year.
