Default Replacement brake parts

I was curious if anyone has replaced their brakes and what parts you went with. Did you stick with Lexus parts or did you go aftermarket?

I'm helping a family member with their RX and found a complete set of Lexus parts to be $600 (with shipping included). I'm talking rotors/discs, pads, and shim kits, front and rear.

RockAuto has a complete set from Power Stop (POWER STOP CRK7606) for $215 plus shipping/tax. Wondering if anyone has tried these parts.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I haven't done this, but will probably need new brakes (front & rear) soon.

Let us know how it goes... it seems the rear electronic brake is still something that a lot of places haven't had experience dealing with. I'm a little hesitant to get it done anywhere other than the Lexus dealership due to the electronic brake and the fear of a non-Lexus shop messing up the electronics.

there is a video on youtube.. (some one posted here as well) about being able to retract it yourself. and another person disassembled the motor portion to manually retract it.. both seem to have works just fine.
ill see if i can find the links

Read about the rear brakes on here and found the NX service procedure. Seems like it’s a small pain in the butt, however there are multiple ways around it.

Planning to have a local shop do the work, so we’ll see if they figure it out.

I recently did the front brakes. Akebono pads, lubed slide pins with sil-glyde. It was very straightforward. Just pushed the pistons in with a c clamp. Used a torque wrench for the slide pins.

The rears were still like new. I had sticking slide pins up front and premature wear.

Did you have any steering wheel shake during braking before or after the pad replacement?

I went away from only doing the pads for that particular reason, as more often than not you need to resurface the rotor to match the new pad and at that point it’s easier and faster just to slap a new rotor on.

The owner decided to go with all Lexus parts. I’m actually curious how much meat is on the rear pads, as I can’t imagine them being worn after 50-60k.

Thank you all for the suggestions and help.
