One of the things that bug me with the 4RX is the very slow opening of the rear door. Unlike the previous generations where opening it just swings up, and power operation is only while closing.

I see that this is a dealer programmable (why are there still so many things that only the dealer can program?!) setting to turn it off. Has anyone done this? Does it swing open more quickly?

I do love that I can quickly press the button twice so that it closes and locks. In the previous generations I hated to wait for the door to close before I can lock it.

 

I really don't know, but that seems like a pretty heavy door to open and close manually. As far as opening slowly, I would assume it's a safety thing. They wouldn't want that big, heavy door swinging up quickly and you can't get out of the way fast enough. Mine works just fine but I guess I'm just not in that much of a hurry.

 

Not sure of your year, but the '18 is an owner setting on the mid instrument cluster display. Turning it off does not make it easy to open or close manually.

 

Is that different from the setting that controls how far up it actually opens?

 

Yes, you can set door on, door on and touchless off, or off entirely. Then setting height 1-5. Then sound of tone 1-3.
