2017 RX450h locking doors by itself
Hello there,
I had something interesting happen today with my 2017 RX450h. When I get out of the driver's seat and exit the vehicle, with my key fob on me, I'll shut the door and the car will automatically lock all doors and my side mirrors will retract without my touching the "lock" spot on the door handle or the key fob. The other fun thing that happens is when I get into the driver's seat, with my key fob on me, the dashboard will display that the driver side door is open, but then it begins to beep at me and display "Key left in vehicle". This eventually times out and I can start the vehicle. I double checked that my extra key fob was in the house (it was) and I called my local dealership and they were quite stumped. They are having me drop it off to them after work tomorrow, but I didn't get the impression they have any idea what could be causing this/these issues. I have googled "2017 Lexus RX450h locking by itself" and all I can find are threads asking if the car CAN perform this automatic locking function and all these threads state that the car will not lock on it's own without the driver actively doing something (i.e. - touching the exterior door handle or using the key fob to lock the vehicle). Most of the threads mentioned that if the vehicle is locked and you unlock it, it will automatically re-lock itself after a certain time frame (30, 60, or 90 seconds) and that is the only instance where the car should automatically lock itself.
Any ideas as to what could be causing this? Computer controller problem? Anything I could use to guide the service guys tomorrow?
Thanks,
Tanya

Only thing that comes to my mind is do you have the fob in your pocket, say in a snug fitting pair of pants? Or someplace similar?

No, the key fob started out loose in my purse. When I realized something was wrong, I pulled the key fob out of my purse and held it in my hand while I got in and out of the SUV. The vehicle automatically locked on its own and gave the “Key left in vehicle” warning with the fob just in my hand.
