When I was looking for a 2017 RX 350, a couple of weeks ago, I came across CPO at an Atlanta Lexus dealer. When I was haggling over the price, the salesperson told me that I could have the same car for $1,000 less, but it would not be certified. I did not take the bait.

In other words, the 1000 bucks got you a 2 year end-to-end warranty.

Cant remember but does CPO contract verbiage cover the infotainment and safety systems for faults?

I'd have to go back and re-read it, but I'm pretty sure it was an end-to-end warranty, so yes, that would be covered.

End-end is very vague,as some companies list those two high $$ systems as excluded.

Default Warranty

Tell the sales person you will take the car with the warranty less the $1000---I would bet big $$$ you get the car.

You are welcome

Lehtos has 25 years experience as a consumer lawyer, specializing in autos, so, yes, if he says "CPO with XXX points checked" is no guarantee any checks were made, I think it can be relied upon as fact.

Scotty Kilmer, an auto mechanic for 51 years, posts excellent videos on YouTube. Among the things I've learned from him is that dealerships view "free maintenance" visits as opportunities to find things "wrong" that they can charge for.

Coolsaber--Thank you for posting this. It should be viewed by Ravenuer and the other dealer's-wet-dream naifs.but probably won't. My post about CPOs was based on another Lehtos video, which amplified on the scam. It is remarkable to me that anyone believes what car dealerships tell them, as that category is usually at the bottom in polls of "who is trustworthy?"

Zammer, everything you seem to know about cars is whatever you read on the internet. I'm 73 years old and everything I know about cars and dealers I've learned THE HARD WAY. I've never said that CPO inspections are guaranteed. There's no way to know that unless you stood there and watched the mechanic do it What I said was that CPO money buys you a 2 year bumper to bumper warranty. I don't care if they inspected it or not, it's a 2 yr warranty.
So if the warranty is important to you, go for the CPO. If not, don't.
