Default WANDERING and Changing Modes

One of the few complaints I have with our new to us 2017 RX 350 is how it wanders on the x-ways. Did not notice it with our 2011. I blamed the electric power steering or the 20 inch tires or maybe too little caster. Comments on this GREAT BB suggested trying it in "Sport" mode, I was using "Econ" mode. I believe it helped, will need a little more experimenting, "Sport" mode seemed to tighten the steering up and stopped the wandering. THANK YOU!!!!

I'd recommend an alignment and tire pressure check. I believe selecting Sport mode only changes the transmission shift mapping, has nothing to do with the steering. My 2017 RX350 with 18" tires goes straight down the road no matter what drive mode it's in.

If wondering I'd also check the tires, many times if there is uneven wear they could cause this.
I have a 2017 and it doesn't wonder in any of the 3 settings.

SPORT mode doesn't impact steering in the RX - throttle response only.

I’ve had this problem, it was the alignment. If your tires are properly inflated it’s the alignment but crappy tires could also cause this. I’m betting it’s the alignment, my RX wandered all over the road. Which tires do you have the Ecopias or Michelin’s? If you just got the car, It’s DEFINITELY the alignment. Ive heard of RX’s with bad alignment brand new off the lot so this isn’t a surprise. Mine is also a 2017 and the alignment was bad.

It has good Perille's and they are properly inflated with equal wear (almost none). I have learned to compensate, but my wife over corrects and the computer thinks she is sleepy. Will have the alignment checked at first service.

unless they are doing the alignment for free do not get it done at the dealer. Check on yelp or online and find the best shop for alignment, they usually sell tires too. Most dealers overcharge for alignment and never put the effort some of these tire places do to get it 100% perfect.
