Collision estimates
New member. I backed up into a wall and caused damage to the rear bumper, including the light cluster. I was wondering how much will it cost for me to get the damage fixed. I have a $1000 deductible on my insurance so wanted to see what works better: going through insurance or paying myself.
Any help is appreciated.

Pictures? Year, and trim? Do you have LED taillights? What's your paint color?
If no pictures, can you describe to us in more detail?
I had a dude hit my 2005 Camry XLE in a parking garage at parking garage speeds. Minor damage done to the front bumper cover. It was like $1,500 for them to sand, repaint, and clear coat the front bumper. And that was like 8 years ago at Midwest labor prices.
Off the bat, I'm going to say heck yeah, you should go through your insurance because you have a luxury car with a luxury paint job that will be expensive to match if you want it done right. If it was 1.5 for my jank camry, you're looking at 2.5-3k for your RX. Through in another 500-1000 for the light.

Repairs are crazy expensive. A guy bumped our 4Runner and damaged just the plastic bumper assembly. That was about $1200 with no damage to any lights...just the plastic pieces and labor.
A couple of pictures would help but it is probably more than you think.

Thank you for the feedback. Here are some pictures. I have a 2018 RX350. The light cluster is damaged, but the lights work, and yes, these are LEDs. I assume now these are whole clusters and I cannot just replace the plastic housing.

The bumper is what looks to be expensive. Probably can replace the tail light easily.

Ouch, expensive repair. The trick is going to be a paint match to adjacent panel because paint on plastic can be slightly off when next to steel, unless they blend into rear quarters. With a blend the price goes up. Best of luck and run it through your insurance.

I agree with you all. Insurance is a better way to go. I looked more carefully and there is a bar next to the muffler that is damaged. I will not be surprised if there is damage to the muffler...which will certainly be very expensive.
Thank you for the feedback.
Sad, I have this situation.
Happy, I found this forum.

Maybe get 2-3 some estimates on repairs and determine the cost? In some cases claiming insurance yields higher insurance later.
