The RX is far more capable of hauling cargo than it might look on paper.

I came out of a 3RX when I got my 4RX, and I had to do a double take when I saw the official cargo volume specs because I was like, there's no way this thing has just two more cubic feet of cargo room than the NX with the seats folded down.
That said, I'm pretty certain the 4RX has less cargo room than the 3RX even though it's slightly wider. The sloping tailgate and the sloping sides of the car make it difficult to find usable space at times, whereas the 3RX had a more bulbous shape so that made stuffing it easier. The load floor is also slightly higher in the 4RX, and that was a bit of an adjustment for a week or two.

The RX has a watered down version of the X6’s “coupe” roof and all the cars the copied it after the fact. It looks super cool but its horrible for trunk space. I drove my 7 year old out to a bike trail and it took me a little while to figure out how to get the little Barbie bike to fit without smashing the handlebar through my window.

We took my ‘20 Rx450 to CO for 10 days in June. I was pretty surprised it held the luggage of our 4-some. No way did I think it was happening. After buying the Rx I began prepping the wife for us to have to take her car.

I have used my RX for a truck, when I had to, but it's not a very good one. I'm also not thrilled with the carpety-kinda stuff on the seat backs -- easy to snag, easy to get dirty, hard to get clean. They could find some nice waterproof or rubberized material for that purpose, so you don't have to go find some clean cardboard to put down every time you want to carry something.

I have the 450HL and it is a little better, because the back does not slope as much. Wish it had even more room. I might go for the new Sienna H next year, because it has all the room I need.

Apart from the observations about the sloping hatch, I also take issue with the high loading height. Recently looked at the current gen Rav4 and I was shocked by the stark contrast. I've found out the hard way that loading up the RX with cargo is an unpleasant task as you really have to lift stuff in from a weird position to get above the load height.

I was thinking if this thread before when I was loading up my BJs groceries. Lol it does not hold more cargo than you thought. I previously had an explorer sport and that thing could hold allot of stuff. I think my wife’s 2018 RDX can hold more than the RX. Especially once the kids recline the seat a tiny bit, game over. I have no problem with the load height, same as wife’s RDX, and my old explorer. If it were any lower it would be a station wagon. I find myself lusting after a GX for the higher ride but it’s so much rougher than the RX and I couldn’t decide if that was a good thing when I got the RX.
