Fair enough. My point is the RX 350 is not exceptionally quiet as luxury cars go. I would call it very middle of the road in quietness, plus mine is cursed with the 1400 to 1800 rpm exhaust drone and vibrations. That the dealer was unable to fix after two visits and several new parts, but now they declare its operating as intended. That begs the question if it was operating as intended, then why did they work on it two different times and replace several parts? Call me a steamed Lexus customer that probably will never touch one again.

Quiet relative to cars costing much less for one thing. My 2017 RX-450 has objectionable road noise even with premium Michelin tires. My 2015 ES-350 was extremely quiet by comparison. My Chevy Avalanche was dead quiet and the inexpensive Chrysler minivan loaner I got while my Jeep was being repaired was dead quiet. The RX road noise is pretty bad and very irritating on all all types of roads and on long trips it is fatiguing. Not up to even mid priced car standards not to mention Lexus price point standards.

By no means is the 4th gen RX a quiet car, that's an established fact. Hell even my 2015 GS350 F-Sport was quieter than my 2017 RX350 F-Sport. I went to the dealership four times for the noise and vibration issue, twice having the issue escalated to the District Service Manager. They took noise reading levels in my vehicle and compared it to other RXs on the lot and concluded they were within the acceptable deviation. Unfortunately, I still have the same issue and just become accustomed to it...

Relative in judgement to others in comparison to different individual opinions. I'm old school also, and agree certain sounds your vehicle make suggest different things. Most cases road noise maybe tires & wind noise possible door seal. My fwd Rx isn't the quietest and wasn't my first choice. It's actually my wife's car and she likes the noises in the RX better than the MDX . I surrender, and hopefully the Op will share on the replacement vehicle.

i think our RX is very quiet. Compared to the 400h that i gave my dad, and my daily ES, it has significantly less road noise, tire noise, and NVH (noise vibration harshness).
I havent tried the lincoln avaitor but i heard that one was quieter but the x5/GLE were all noisier when we tested them.

My 2022 NX350 was far more quiet than my 2022 RX350. The NX350 while cruising on the highway was as quiet as any vehicle I have ever driven., and it had run flats! However, getting it going to speed was another story, very buzzy 4 banger vibration not pleasant. I suspect the 2023 RX350 will be very quiet, hopefully they won't have the buzz of a 4 cylinder.

SUVs are noisier than sedans. Big open area area in back leads to road noise from rear, a big reason I drive an LS500.
