shark fin antenna cover broke off from garage door
Hello everyone. So as I was backing out my 2019 rx350 I didn't realize the garage was not opened all the way (70% opened). the antenna caught the garage door and the it popped off. I'm not sure how bad the damage it is. Will it require full replacement? I'm going to the dealership for the 10k mile complimentary maintenance and recall repair next week. I will get a quote for the repair while I'm there. I just want to see what you guys think to get this repaired. Thanks

The metal piece goes on your roof and the fin clips onto it. You can buy a replacement fin from Amazon for cheap if the dealership cost is high. Just search for Antenna fin on Amazon to see what I mean. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. So the antenna base is still attached to the roof, only the plastic cover popped off. How did the metal piece break off if the base is still attached? how do I remove the antenna base? I was not able to find removal instruction online for 4th gen RX. Will it involve removing headliner from the inside? Thanks

I did this to my 2015 -- you are very lucky, mine dented the roof pretty bad and I needed to get a couple of hours PDR to repair it.
Replacement is very easy (on the 2015 at least) you just went through the rear door a pulled the headliner down a bit and there were a couple of bolts. the actual cover is cheap (ebay 8607776010C2) which was the match for my 2015 (came painted black). It came with a couple gaskets etc.

Antenna cover, part number 86077-48020-XX (XX = color code), retail price $48.91
Assuming these are the correct part numbers, apparently the rest is for labor.
Total online discounted price for these two parts is around $175.

Damn just got a call from the dealership. They said the roof is dented when they took it apart. They can't fix it the roof will need be fixed by the collision center. They suggest having it repaired through the insurance. Will insurance cover it as an accident?

Ok collision deductible is $500. Once I call the insurance to file the claim, should I go with their body shop or look for my own? Last time I filed a collision claim was 2006...
