For my 2017, in March 2020, my battery was replaced by the dealer under warranty. Today, the battery was dead as a dodo. I am still under warranty and will call Lexus Roadside Service on Friday. What a shame!

Right, I would be worried about the alternator and would want to have it tested.

it seems these newer gen cars drain battery like crazy, any of you guys bother with trickle chargers while you're not driving it? it's going to be my wife's daily but I figure it might be a good ideal to plug it in while shes not driving it

I drive my car daily, although not always a lot of miles. My 2018 is coming up on 3 years on the road, with the only issue being sulfation on the bracket. My 2015 went 3 years on its original battery with no issue.

Badhobs - I don't think a trickle charger is warranted in your case. I drive my Avalon once a week with no special attention to the Costco battery. Our former 2011 RX was driven regularly with no special attention to the Costco battery other than regular service. In my opinion, the only reason your battery would not give good service would be that it is defective in the first place, rare. Ray A.

We have (1) a 2015 Honda Accord, driven once a week, sometimes once every other week, (2) a 2002 Honda Odyssey, sometimes not driven for 2, 3 weeks, and (3) a 2020 Lexus RX450H, driven on average once every other day. That has been since March 2019 when we started working from home.
None of them has given me any trouble re. the battery.

During the winter, my 2000 Mustang GT convertible hibernates in our garage. I do start it up and run the engine for 15 minutes at least once a week. However, I place a trickle charger on it between start-ups. I've never used a trickle charger on our daily drivers except when it is cold outside and the car won't be started for a week or longer.

My wife works from home and had a 2016 RX maybe drove it to the store once a week. Now we have a 2020 RX that gets driven maybe once every 2-3 weeks since Covid still short trips. Never had any battery issues on either RX.
Make sure your key fobs aren't stored too close to your RX.

Does it say anything about increasing power consumption in that case?
My manual doesn't. In fact, it says that the battery-saving function will be activated if the key is within 6 ft outside the vehicle for more than 10 minutes.

With all of the advanced tech in these new cars. The key fob will activate certain remote proximity features. I suggest to store your key fobs out of range of your RX when you don't need it. Something is draining your battery and this is pretty simple to try. Most of us here get at least 3yrs out of our batteries.

i changed the battery on my 2015 RX350 AWD with zero issue. Pretty much remove the old battery and put new one in. Some settings might be reset but no big woop. Bought mine from Costco.

Two thoughts here. First is if you're going to believe Scotty saying that the computer in your car knows how old your battery is and will charge accordingly. Thus, you need a dongle to be able to update your computer. Either believe him or Viktor that it's not necessary. Of course it might be different for different models and years of your Lexus. That's a question we might ask of Viktor.
Second, I don't see where there is a problem with the idea mentioned above of hooking up your trickle charger to your battery leads when you remove them from the old battery. That will keep some charge going into the car's system just as the battery would have done and so no settings on anything would change. Not your radio or steering wheel pre-set.
