It may make you feel better, but any buyer/dealer will not use that source of info.
I don't understand. There is no reference in prior posts to "altering" information, only the ability for Toyota dealerships to add to a Lexus vehicle maintenance record in their internal system, and for drivers to be able to manually add records to the service history at drivers.lexus.com.

These things might have a different badge, but they are Toyotas, plain and simple. The faceplate on my "luxury" SUV says Manufactured by Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Inc. The word 'Lexus' does not appear anywhere on the faceplate. The fact that Lexus and Toyota-branded vehicles use the same service history system is not a surprise.

4th gen RX spark plugs (non hybrid) are substantially easier to change compared to previous generations. There's only one bracket supporting the intake plenum and it's very easy to get to, and the cowl does not need to come off.

you mean i don't need to remove the wiper blades and such? that's a blessing... i'll probably still need a step by step video though.

Are the rear plugs easy to change on any transverse mounted V6? Judging by your username, you probably know. I haven't changed the plugs on our 2017 Honda Pilot (another transverse-mounted V6 configuration), but there is talk on it's forum of needing a mirror and orangutan arms top accomplish the task.

Seems like this is just a trade-off of getting a V6. A longitudinal engine mount requires a fundamentally different vehicle package that is significantly longer to yield the same interior space, and likely has a rear-drive bias. Sounds like a GX.

Most of the rear side, closest to the fire wall, can be very difficult to get at the plugs. The ES is hard, but you can get at them, on the RX, 2016+ are very difficult and I don't think I'll be doing a plug replacement anytime soon. I'll let someone else do it!

So true. The proof: the same spark plug replacement schedule is required for the 450h even though the 450h will not rack up anywhere near 60K miles on the V6 when the odo reads reads 60K.

It goes to show you that it's all a money making scheme!

The maintenance schedule for the 2020 Acura MDX does not call for a spark plug change until 105K miles. I guess Honda Motor Company has a different deal with the EPA.

Default Wondering why spark plugs replacement is so $$$

This is so crazy, what one has to do to change the spark plugs and makes me wonder how many dealers really do this!

The video intro says it is not applicable to our Gen 4 2GR-FKS and FXS engines. I don't know whether that means the cowl and plenum don't have to be removed on ours, or whether it means the removal procedure is different.

My dealer pricing just for reference (as of March '2021),
- Spark plug replacement @ 10 years/192,000km: CA$822.70+tax+ss

Note that my 2017 RX350 is only @ 91K kms, I got pricing together with other recommended fluid maintenance intervals.

Gee I'd better start saving now and by the time it's due I may have enough money!

Does anyone have the fastener locations for the intake manifold? I know to get the rear bank of spark plugs, it's easier to remove the black plastic manifold that sits on top of the engine. The bolts and torx fasteners are easily visible but I have read there are other areas the intake manifold is fastened.

Thanks in advance.

I'm hoping that Viktor can give us a video on it.
