I had heard the same thing and that is why I asked Viktor. His answer implied that it was more than emissions, but he may have just been siting the company line.
Either way,I am sure that they could last much longer. I will probably do them in the summer which will be around 70k. If I put it off a year, that should be fine too.

Lexus does not indicate a (worn) spark plug replacement mileage interval for the 4th generation. You can adopt the earlier generation benchmark of 120,000 miles if you like or just replace them as required for acceptable performance just as you would brake pads. The California emissions standard applies to 17 states and requires Lexus to warrant the plugs if they cause an emission test failure and the plugs have less than 60,000 miles (or less than 72 months). I don't believe that the plugs start to magically pollute the air after 60,000 miles.

The worst case (and very rare) scenario would be if your car is registered in CA (or one of the other 17 states that use that standard) and you fail an emission test because of faulty spark plugs: if the plugs are over 60,000 miles, you pay for the new ones which you would have had to do anyway if you changed them at 60k. Then, retake the test.
I will replace mine at 100,000 miles. A nice even number.

Check here to see if your state is one of the other 17 that has adopted the CA emissions standard: As of May 13, 2022 CARB (California Air Resources Board) lists 17 other states — New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Washington, Oregon, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Colorado, Minnesota, Nevada, Virginia, and New Mexico — as those that have adopted California's vehicle standards under Section 177.

I would think the worst case scenario would be failing the emmision's
test with a P0420 code ( Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold )
error at 85,000 miles. That could mean a bad converter. If it was a
bad converter, you would think it would be covered under CARB. My
quess is that Lexus would claim that the converted failed because the
spark plugs weren't replaced at 60,000 miles as required and refuse to
pay for the repair.

Lexus wanted over $3,500 to replace a converter on my SC430 nine years
ago when I got that P0420 code. The car was over just 90,000 miles but
more than 10 years old.

I highly doubt the original plugs would fail at less than 120k as they seem to be ok on the Toyota V6. If you pass the emission test, how would they know if you changed the plugs or not?
If you want to change them yourself, fine. But I wouldn't pay the dealer the stupid amount they charge.

I will replace my plugs when the car does not run properly, and that may be at 100,000 miles or 200,000. Emission standards would never drive my interval

Additional question about ignition coils - how long do they normally "last". Is it worth the $$$ to replace "at least bank1 (3 x rear coils)" during spark plug replacement @100K miles/160K kms?

The cost of each ignition coil is ~US$150/CA$200 and I was told by my dealer that to change coils together with spark plug replacement is free of charge (labor). Thoughts?

I'm still undecided to replace it with 5th-Gens and most probably will be hanging onto it for a couple more years .

I've had several Toyotas with well over 350,000 km and never had to replace ignition coil. Who is recommending the coil swap?

Just an FYI that Car Care Nut has similar videos that are still available.

So another good site to find videos and perhaps save.

Never thought that this content would go away, so having copies will be great.

If you could link the spark plug and coolant videos that would be appreciated. I wrote notes on each, but having the videos is much easier.

Thanks again!
