Remote start app problem

Remote start app problem
I have been using the Lexus mobile app since I got the car (new) from the dealer. I have used it mostly to remote start the car if it is very hot or cold out. When I park the car for the night (in the driveway) I always set the HVAC for the appropriate weather conditions. During the winter months especially with the snow we have had I leave the defroster set to 80 degrees and remote start the car and let the defrosters help to melt the snow/ice off the windows. Sometimes I will want to start the car a 2nd time for the extra heat it creates in the vehicle. Herein lies the problem. When I try to restart the car after the 10 minutes it has been running expires and then wait about another 10 minutes for the heat to do its work, when I try to start it again I get the following message.
The only way to restart the car is to close the app and reopen it, then it will let me start the car again. Has anyone else experienced the same? I'm using version 1.1.54.

Try refreshing the Status of the car by "sweeping" down on the phone screen.
Wait a moment and check that the "Last updated: Today...." reflects current time.
Wait another moment and retry the Remote Start #2 command.

Agree with this. I always do that refresh with a swipe and notice bugs without doing it. Even on the first start.

Nope. That's the way Toyota's remote start implementation works. It's been that way for years.

It is goofy. It doesn't really cause an extra step, as all the other implementations that I know of (Honda and Ford) still require you to hit the Start button when entering the vehicle, too. They leave the engine running, though. It is disconcerting to stop the engine when the door is opened. Take a look at this thread: Remote start engine shuts off when unlocking door or trunk - ClubLexus - Lexus Forum Discussion (That link is for one of my posts, but the whole thread might be of interest.)

Makes no sense to give one the ultra convenience of a remote start and then to unnecessarily complicate it by inconveniently shutting down the engine the moment he enters the car..
If you like that, good for you. Pain in the neck to me.

Should not have purchased the car if if is that important. Even if the engine didn't shut down as soon as you step on the brake it would shut down anyway. Why would you start the car and not intend to drive it. Toyota built in a 10 minute timer anyway.
