I am new to owning my Lexus RX350 that I purchase in February of this year and absolutely loving this SUV. I do have one question to see if this is normal or if anyone else notices this. If I close my drivers side door say with a soft closure you get a nice solid sounding closure / thud. If you close the door say a little too hard I will get a hollow / strange sounding closure. I guess my question is this normal? not a big issue I am just surprised of the difference if closed with a little harder force.

I noticed a similar thing. In chasing a rattle that I thought was in the door, I removed the inner door panel and did a lot of sound deadening. It's hard to believe how much 'clacky' plastic is inside the doors. There is a long piece of plastic at the top of the door that I think is the primary source of the "tinny" closing sound. All the plastic connectors are loose, too, though, and may contribute. The rattle turned out to be something else (Driver door/seat belt adjuster rattle - resolved - ClubLexus - Lexus Forum Discussion), but the sound deadening effort definitely made the door close with a more pleasing thud.

agreed. My previous Lexus door made a noise that did not sound unpleasant at all when closed somewhat forcefully. It sounded sold, and not, well, sorta cheap. My 2020 Rx 450 doors make a hollow-sounding thud noise when closed forcefully. Frankly, a similar noise as our 16-year old daughter’s car door makes on her Nissan Rogue. Gotta say, a forceful closure of my RX door sounds sorta cheap and less than the solid-sounding noise I expect from a nicer vehicle.
