Catalytic Converter theft common on our cars?
#16
Hi, I searched and didnt see anything obvious. On my beater car (2000 Honda Accord) the catalytic converter was chopped off a few days ago.
I do need to park the RX350 outside sometimes... does anyone know of any shock sensors to add to the car that integrates with the factory alarm?
Also is there any catalytic converter shields we can add, or is it difficult enough on the car?

I also have this not the catstrap but the cateye alarm. Motion sensor under the car. Arms when car is off and disarms when running. Has a loud siren by engine to deter.

The website is not updated is not updated on the cateye alarm. The undated alarm does not need a remote to activate or deactivate.
For servicing the car, there is also a fusable link you can remove to deactivate. No false alarms so far and has gone off once and scared the burglar away. High decibel siren.

I installed this. Works with factory alarm and no key fob needed. Arms and disarms with factory alarm. Easy to install.

Advice from law enforcement is to park close to home - the driveway doesn't get much closer. The KIRO video showing the thief pointing a gun at the front door while his accomplice is under the vehicle removing the CC. Had the gun wielding thug been shot by the homeowner - where would our collective sympathies lie? Public outcry? ACLU? Can these criminals be stopped - I think we know they can and how it can be done. Prisoners in our own home. NOT ok.
In the mean time we can at least slow the thieves down - www.catshield.com looks decent for Honda and Toyota. Good luck to all law abiding citizens.

Catalytic converter cover
Hello, I search around and can't find the answer. I saw a YouTube video and the owner got the catalytic converter cover installed from the Lexus dealer, but I can't find the part number. When I called my local Lexus dealer and they have no idea what I'm talking about.
Do Lexus or other companies make catalytic converter cover for the 4th gen RX350? Thanks

Booby traps are illegal. Not only do you face criminal charges from the State, you'll be open to civil damages from the perps, and they will win. It's a lose-lose situation and the dumbest move you can make trying to protect a catalytic converter of all things.

Catalytic Convertor Theft Prevention
Friends,
I recently moved to Chicago. Like any major city in the USA, it is plagued with incidents of Catalytic Convertor thefts. I am especially concerned as my 4th RX350 is higher off-ground and is a Toyota product which seems to be a favorite brand for CC thieves.
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to deter the thieves? Or to prevent the theft of the CC entirely?
Thank you in advance!

Catalytic converter shield for a 2020 RX450h.
Hi, I have a 2020 RX450h and was looking to get a catalytic converter shield/protector. Looked on eBay and didn’t find any sort of shield for the cat.
Does anyone know if they sell it anywhere? Or is it protected by the manufacturer/Lexus already and doesn’t need one?
Thanks in advance.
