We are taking our RX to sequoia National park next week and the cellular coverage there are pretty bad. Normally we use google navigation via CarPlay on our RX, but maybe we have to rely on the native navigation this time. Will it work in area without cellular coverage?

The in-car navigation system should still be able to rely on the data base that is already loaded into the car. What it won't be able to do without cellular coverage is to check with the data base in the cloud to do things like search for newer or faster routes to your destinations.

Mine is a 2021 model it should come with AT&T WiFi hotspot correct? How long is the trial? I’ve read at&t signals are decent in that area.

lesz is right, native nav will work fine without cell service. The Dynamic Voice and Dynamic Nav features
which are included for the first 36 months rely on outside connections to provide better Voice recognition
and to provide more up to the minute point of interest updates. You may have to actually type destination
names and/or addresses manually....real 1st world problem, right?

GPS works off the global network of GPS satellites. You don't need a cell connection at all.
As others have said, you will have to get the correct map on your nav which for the oem nav is typically DVD based.

@stlgrym3 I have 2017 RX350 F-Sport with a 2017 map version. Went to the Adirondack Mountains in upstate NY last year, no cell service within 100 miles radius. The RX navigation worked beautifully to bring me back to civilization.

here was the email I received when activated the trial:

Your complimentary trial is active and allows you to use 4GB of data for a period of 90 days. The trial will expire when data is consumed or at the end of the trial period, whichever comes first.

Have been to Sequoia N.P. a couple times over the years with our 2017 RX. Did not have a problem. A bigger problem is likely to be the crowds this year. Have fun.

The AT&T trial is 4 gig or 90 days, which ever occurs first.
